I have the chance to get a Howse HD10 bush hog from my neighbor. It has a broke gear box and I may get it for agreeing to mow his 4 acre field and repairing it . It weighs around 1700 pounds per the internet specs. It also 3 point hitch. I have a FEL so I think it will work fine. The HP ratings are 55-85.

If the dealer gets my 7060 ready to go this week I plan on mowing with my 8ft bush hog this weekend. A 10ft may be to large for a 7060 on uneven ground, but may be ok on mostly flat ground. My 20 acres doesn't have a level spot on it and there were times that I felt uncomfortable with the bush hog behind my MF3635 that weighed almost 9000 lbs with the FEL. The MF is pretty close to the same size as the 7060 and I would not have wanted to try anything bigger than the 8ft Bush Hog behind it. Again. if the ground that you are mowing is level it may handle it just fine.

The specs on my Bush Hog 2308 say that it weighs around 1600 lbs, so it would be comparable to the Howse, just narrower.

most all of the land around here is flat , maybe a little grade but not hilly by any means

You have enough tractor so long as the field isn't too overgrown. If the field is high, you don't have enough balls.

Is it fully mounted or semi-mounted?

1,700 Lbs. is light for a 10' cutter ,even a Howse. I once owned a Woods MDS 1260, 10.5' mounted cutter that weighed nearly 3,000 Lbs.

If mounted, you will need front weights.

You will have enough HP to pull it if the cover is not too heavy.

You will also find all of the high spots in your fields.

I run a 1500# 10 foot Titan with a T4.75 with no issues. I keep the FEL on. A little lighter than the Howse. HP is a non issue in high grass and high heat.

no mention of the repair cost. assume you'll do labor? it could be a good deal even if you don't keep it.
i agree w/SDT in that it seems light for a 10' 3ph cutter. my 8' Rhino is right at 2k. could this be a finish mower, or just light duty?
worth the homework, could be a good deal

Howse declared bankruptcy and liquidated about eighteen months ago.

You will have to adapt gearbox parts from another brand.
