A good girl goes home and goes to bed. A nice girl goes to bed and then goes home.

Don稚 leave a car battery directly on a concrete floor.

I call BS on you calling this a misconception. It is true. Just did had this issue twice last month. I had the battery out of mom's camper at my house in the garage for the winter (to keep someone from stealing it at her house). I had it on a trickle charger all winter and was perfectly fine sitting on a wood 2x4. Bought a couple new shelves, moved it out of the way. When we finished the shelves I took it to her camper. It was deader than a door nail. Put it on a charger and it is fine including sitting inside her camper not attached to anything. Then my son was installing new brakes and brake lines on his Z/28. He took the battery out for room. Set it on the ground. A week later once he got the one line remade that was made incorrectly the first time, he put the battery back in the car. It was so dead it wouldn't even turn on the dome light. Put the charger on the battery. Car started fine. It has worked fine since it has been back in the car.

So it is a misconception that it is a misconception.

I have worked under this so called Misconception for a LONG time.
Worked in a number of Car Dealerships and Repair Shops, and we ALWAYS put a 2x6 under a battery, charging or not, we actually cut 2x6 for that exact purpose.

Hearing that some thought it to be a misconception, I'm thinking it may have been the older batteries that had the problem, Lead Acid can do funny things, and the newer designs had taken the discharging into consideration. As stated within the above Quote, new designs didn't change anything. :confused2:

For what it is worth, I will continue to use my precut 2x6's as platforms for batteries, charging or just sitting there. :cool2::dance1: :drink:

Please explain the "mechanism" or black magic or scientific principle. PLEASE.

I have worked tirelessly most of my life to beat back the frontiers of ignorance, but I believe it is a losing battle. :confused3:
