If standard framing material is being used...using a double top plate on walls framed with "pre-cut" studs (92 5/8")...Walls will not fit under an 8' ceiling...92 5/8" + 3" for top and bottom plates = 95 5/8"...It is not common to hang ceilings before interior partitions are framed/stood...

If double top plates are required typical pre-cut studs will require further cutting...Also...unless it is a designed bearing wall...any other interior walls are not supposed to be framed up tight under trusses etc...they should be about 1/2"- 3/4" below but close enough to so top plates can be fixed with a framing nail etc. to plumb them...

This guy sort of explains it:

Do precut studs make sense? - Fine Homebuilding

The finished wall is just a bit over 96". Once the framing is done, the ceiling drywall goes up first - flush to the top plate.. Then the sidewall sheets go up, raised flush to the ceiling sheets and off the floor. That leaves a gap that can be adjusted as necessary for plumb and square. But he also talks about a single top and bottom plate while others seem to like a double at the bottom.

If you really want to twist somebody around, ask them the length of a pre-cut stud.

Hint, 96" it ain't.
Theres 2 sizes of precuts.

Now I know, but I cheated. ;)

I used to know that but haveing built anything since 1983... 93?...931/2? thickness of 3 2xs but I think there is another 1/2" to be subtracted somewhere.

Yeah, in the olden days, the rumor was you could do it, but you had to get it up to about 50 mph. Never tried it, never saw it done.

starting - Push start a car with automatic transmission - Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Stack Exchange

I was involved as an unwilling participant in doing this back in the early 1960's. I worked in a garage and occasionally we did this. We had to get the cars going fairly fast but I think it was well below the 50 MPH mentioned.

What about cell phone use at a gas station?
What about not towing with a truck until 500 miles on the engine?
How about the use of synthetic oil in small engines like lawnmowers and such?
What about waiting 100 hours on a farm tractor before switching to synthetic?

True or false?
