Grease for hitch balls

/ Grease for hitch balls #81
I noticed one of my hitch balls was getting some rust on it from sitting on the shelf.

I brushed it clean and melted a candle over the top and sides of it.

It looks kinda weird but it isn't rusting any more and I don't get greasy if I bump it with my sleeve.

Wax on the hitch ball does seem like a good idea.
Wouldn't make much difference for me though, because I use a 12K Equal-i-zer hitch, and it NEEDS grease.
The hitch grease just seems to jump out when I get within 3' of it.
Just love to watch the US and Canadian customs agents when they get close to the hitch.

That sounds like Anti Seize... you just have to look at it and, somehow, it's all over you.

It is not Anti-Seize, but I do agree.....Anti-Seize is absolutely the very worst!

How about the balls on your 3 point arms, anyone grease those?

I use 00 gear lube, which I bought for my tiller until I find time to replace the gearbox seal. It works so well that I also use it on my PTO shaft... which was also a topic, a couple of months ago.

Nothing aggravates me more than a dry, rusty PTO. When not using the PTO on my tractors they wear a condom. I grease the splines and the locking mechanism.

If you grease your PTO shaft why not grease your balls while you are at it? They are right there.

A condom on the ball will prevent catching rust from borrowed trailer hitches.

Sorry You did not consider my Woolwax post helpful.
There was a Woolwax aerosol/spray promotional post here on TBN about a month or two ago.
I bought two cans ($9.95 each), and the 2 aerosol/spray cans are sitting on my spray lubricants shelf.

Why not try: Welcome to Woolwaxusa - WoolWax Lanolin Auto Undercoating ?
They ship their product in aerosol/spray cans,...... 5 days each week.
I suspect if you make the appropriate the payment, they will sell/ship you as many aerosol/spray cans as you might like.
It really should be a very simple process.

You could also write them, or call.

If you still can't figure it all out.....
In Summer, I only live 75 miles from them, and could pick some up, and maybe deliver it to you in Michigan,.... next time I go that way.

It wasn't helpful becuase you didn't tell me where I could purchase. The link you provided still shows the aerosol "not for sale", another Woolwax page shows the aerosol "coming soon".

I will take you up on your offer, 1 can please. I would like to try it and compare it to Fluid Film. So far, everything I've read on forums talks about Woolwax from the conext of under coatings.

I think you're looking at the new Black colored aerosol that isn't available yet. Scroll down a little and the clear aerosol shows pricing and allows you to add it to your shopping cart to purchase.

READ THE WOOLWAX WEBSITE PRODUCT LISTINGS CAREFULLY!
I ordered, from the website, and they shipped 2 aerosol/spray cans of Woolwax to me.
Am I a special customer?.
The nice man in the big brown truck left the package at my door.

How was I so easily able to order, and receive, when you cannot?
Call them at: 1-800-341-4600 if you still need help!
