Changing perceptions takes time when there is money lobbying against the change:

"Lung cancer was once a very rare disease, so rare that doctors took special notice when confronted with a case, thinking it a once-in-a-lifetime oddity. Mechanisation and mass marketing towards the end of the 19th century popularised the cigarette habit, however, causing a global lung cancer epidemic. Cigarettes were recognised as the cause of the epidemic in the 1940s and 1950s, with the confluence of studies from epidemiology, animal experiments, cellular pathology and chemical analytics. Cigarette manufacturers disputed this evidence, as part of an orchestrated conspiracy to salvage cigarette sales. Propagandising the public proved successful, judging from secret tobacco industry measurements of the impact of denialist propaganda. As late as 1960 only one-third of all US doctors believed that the case against cigarettes had been established."

Chris

I had a friend who had some old dental journals from the 1920's. I read one article by a dentist who pointed out the correlation between tobacco and oral cancer, and frankly stated that cancer was a cause. This article was written in 1929.

What I find very interesting is that all the GW, GC, fans are still burning fossil fuels, driving cars, eating steak, running AC in their houses all summer.

It just seems to me if they were the true believers they seem to claim to be, they would be digging caves in their back yards and living in them.....

Heck most of the high and mighty fly in private jets to all their highly important climate meetings......

Something just smells fishy to me.... and its not the fish kill that some corporate polluter has caused!

Climate Change is a global problem that requires a global solution. Until India & China get on-board, anything all USA "fans" do won't make a significant difference. USA only contributes 15% of CO2.

Yes, the reality is Americans can do nothing SIGNIFICANT so why should we sacrifice while the rest of the world continues to emit 85% of the CO2? :confused3:

So why even waste expelling more carbon by talking about it?
I love looking inside a libs mind!

the posts after #135 sum up the situation.

One group wants to tell another group how to live their lives, but are not willing to make any changes themselves.

Hippocratic! And very hard to stomach. 'Bunch of frick'in flakes!
