"Moderation in all things" ... no water we thirst to death, too much water we drowned. Same thing with Climate Change. A little may be beneficial to some folks but too much will be deadly for many. We need to consider Gore's "tipping point" when we will not be able to stop Climate Change. Melting of the permafrost (massive release of Methane) would be a tipping point.

Change IS happening and most people acknowledge it, but unfortunately it's human nature not to do anything unless the change becomes painful. Florida underwater would be painful for the snowbirds. :)

I am a "snowbird" and almost 79.
Should I start worrying NOW ???

Before all the ice melts (raising sea level 216 feet) Florida will cease to exist. The good news is it will take 5,000 years for all the ice to melt. The bad news is by the end of this century many coastal cities like Miami will have major flooding. I've seen Climate models that estimate Florida will disappear in about 3,000 years.

What the World Would Look Like if All the Ice Melted

Venice Italy is flooding too. People LOVE to go there. Go figure!

One of the brightest minds in recent history (Richard Feynman) says that "science is the belief in the ignorance of experts"...

When I Googled this 50+ year old quote it came up on a bunch of AGW denialist websites. The implication on those websites is that Feynman was saying that scientists are ignorant experts. That's far from the case. What he was saying was that scientists should believe that experts are ignorant and should do their own analysis of the data to arrive at their own conclusions. For example, in the late 1800's and early 1900's the "experts" believed that the earth's continents were fixed in place. Other scientists started to question these existing "facts". This eventually led to our current understanding of plate tectonics, which has the earth's continents very slowly moving relative to each other.

As far as ice melting...As I said...in some locations newly discovered marine heat sources are responsible for some ice melting...in other places ice is expanding and some glaciers are growing...Other newly discovered and newly formed deep ocean heat sources are contributing to rising ocean temps...You can't have it both ways and be correct...

Part of this is true. Where tectonic plates are separating molten magma is coming up from below to form new crust. That's how plate tectonics works. That magma causes the hydrothermal vents that spew hot water which causes the temperature in that localized area to go up. This has been going on at a relatively constant rate for millions of years, though. There's no evidence to suggest that this is causing the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere that has been measured since the beginning of the industrial revolution, when we started burning hydrocarbons in significant quantities.

Do the misguided AGW zealots not realize that ALL the new data and information coming from actual scientific sources are reporting about how fouled up the temperature records and how they were obtained are. (Houston there is a problem)...

They are also revealing other newly discovered sources of warm water in the worlds oceans from within the Earth causing much of the melting ice in specific locations...

Heightened activity within the Earth (seismic, volcanic, etc...) is a cause of climate change...not a symptom...
Sooner or later all the misguided sheep are going to be in for a startling revelation and are going to have to admit that they had the whole **** thing all wrong...

Richard - could you provide the references that you've used to make these claims so that the rest of us could investigate their legitimacy?

Chris

LoL...If you want to "investigate" something learn to do your own research...I didn't cite any specifics because there have been so many cases over the last 18 months or so...along with stories about how tainted data has been used etc...
Just watch and read reliable news sources...(I use Reuters) or learn how to search databases ...ALWAYS CONSIDER THE SOURCE...

Reuters is an excellent unbiased news source. There isn't anything on their website that supports your statement:
"Do the misguided AGW zealots not realize that ALL the new data and information coming from actual scientific sources are reporting about how fouled up the temperature records and how they were obtained are."

oh yea Reuters is about as unbiased as you n rekeys

You've got it backwards...the Earth's internal heat (including both known and unknown marine thermal vents) is causing the climate change...The oceans control the weather/climate...not the other way around...

Part of this is true. The oceans are major drivers of earth's weather and climate. As the oceans warm up two visible results are more severe hurricane seasons in the US and dying coral reefs around Australia. But the oceans aren't warming up because of thermal vents (known or unknown) that do their thing at a relatively constant rate. The oceans are heating up because they absorb most of the heat being trapped in the atmosphere by increasing levels of greenhouse gases. Here's a simple explanation from a reliable source:
Ocean warming facts and information
