Start up the unit runs perfectly temp is good, fan runs, 20-30 minutes starts to buck apply more throttle all is fine, 10 min later temp rise, fan slower, 5 min later not enough power to overcome bucking, fan stopped. I don't read any voltage at ele connector to fan, fan speed doesn't changed when ele disconnected, unlike when first started up. Recent fluid change, belt/tensioner are fine. 1200 hrs. Any ideas? Thanks

I wouldn’t think overheating would cause bucking.

Almost sounds like a fuel issue, like putting gas in the diesel tank.

Maybe check your fuel filter.

Not sure I understand gas in the diesel? BTY, I have been using the red diesel fuel.

I'm thinking its hydraulic related since the fan stops after extended use. At start up it operates smoothly, fan runs at speed, unplug connector runs full speed. At some point 20min or so the unit will buck up, the throttle all is well. Eventually, @2k rpm bucks no fwd motion, if on a incline goes back, fan stops, temp is heading red. Let it sit for 30min runs fine but the cycle starts again.

The fan runs off the hydraulic fluid, certain pressure is required it seems to me that's where the issue is. Shop manual says possibly, variable relief valve not at correct pressure, relief valve not correct pressure or suction leak on inlet side of hyd pump. There are no codes not sure other than the dealer how to determine the issue.

Sounds like your loosing charge pressure . Early Toolcats were notorious for drive motors failing causing loss of charge pressure .

I spoke with a pump supplier described the conditions his response was the hydro pump. There is a slight squealing noise under the drivers seat again depends on rpm. Hope to have a pressure done to confirm. Explanation was all is well till the fluid heats up and if there any scoring on the two pump surfaces that will reduce pressure and eventually not work. Seems logical to me we'll see.

I think the hydro pump is belt driven. Have you checked the belt and belt tension?

If you are referring to the passenger side belt that's fine.

I’m not sure this helps but if you disconnect the wiring to the fan, the fan should run continuously at a speed related to engine rpm.

I would tend to think you have an overheating issue.

What do use the machine for?
