Yanmar 1702D
I just picked up my "New" Yanmar YM1702D yesterday. I looked at it week before last, and agreed to terms with the sellers. A nice couple that had just sold their 34 acre farm and moved to the city. My buddy with a GMC 2500 and a tandem axle trailer helped me go get it 2 hours away and bring it back to our mountain cabin where it will be used on the weekends.

I have a good feeling about this little tractor. I got to use it 4 hours yesterday getting used to it and moving some dirt. It has the Koyker 80 FEL, a Mahindra 4' box blade and a 4' brush hog. So it's nicely equipped. They bought it newly refurbished from Fredricks in Hartselle, AL. about 4 years ago for $11,500. They have taken really good care of it and it still only has about 1025 hours on it. I think it's a 1982 model.

I was going to post pics, but I have to have at least 3 posts...

Just respond to your own post with something like "second post" "third post".

Congrats on your YM 1702D. I have a YM 2002D. These are very similar models as far as layout of functions.
I believe that you will live your little tractor. Try to get as much seat time as you can. This forum and the one on Hoye Tractors site have been great sources of information for me.
As for getting your post, just post a simple reply to anyone that post.
Welcome to the forum!

congrats on your yanmar. Just sold mine a couple weeks ago. I already have two tractors, and really didn't need three
The 3110D served me well for a long time

Welcome to the forum!

I plant to do just that. I'm taking Friday off, so I will be back up at the cabin Thursday night through Sunday night and plan to get a lot of seat time this weekend.

Here she is out in the yard (field) in front of the cabin...

Here she is in her new bedroom I had to level and put down crusher run via a shovel, wheelbarrow and rake before she arrived...

From what I've read and pictures I have seen it appears that the rear wheels have been flipped to give it a wider stance. My question is should I do the same thing for the front wheels? Swap them from side to side to that they have a wider track?

No, that is not recommend, because of the extra strain on the bearings due to the leverage from being out wider. Plenty do it and get away with it, but the original engineers never designed it to be done and therefore may not have figured that into their equations and design.

Most of us vintage yanmar enthusiasts will tell you no and never. Sometimes you will get another forum member or one of even the Yanmar guys say they do it and have for ten years or whatever. But what is not known is what increased wear has occured, when will a failure result of any vs when or if one occured in the proper stance. Just my opinion.

Hard on the bearings and may snap the spindles. Some have done it and got away with no problems. Then also if you have a FEL. and swap the front it will or may
hit the FEL.. I believe Hoye Doesn't recommend it......
