As I pointed out in my post above, you don't need to jack them out. Just push in on the loading gate, and they will pop out the opposite of the way that you loaded it.

Me thinks that might be a pinch point and very awkward for people like me with big thumbs, what we need is a race of loading and unloading a Henry, vs side gate loading.

I think the Henry would probably win that contest. But it’s out of commission the whole time you’re doing it. If you’re in a Wild West shoutout the gate loaders have the advantage of being able to stick in a couple rounds when you have the chance without disabling your gun.

Yes, I need to find some oak boards. The pine didn稚 hold up very good. Nope the bed won稚 hold 2 cords and a 1 ton truck wouldn稚 carry that much weight. I doubt this load was 1.5 cords. Probably closer to 1.3. I didn稚 scale that load but if I had to guess I壇 say it was in the 7,000 pound range. View attachment 620608

1.5 or 1.3,,,, it looks to me like you cant get another stick on there. So that it's a little more then a cord, what would you sell a load like that for delivered 30 mi? I think I'm 29 mi away.............

I think liberty Maine is a good bit farther than 29 miles but I’d want $200 to deliver 3 rick 30 miles. That’s a tight hand tossed load that’s bigger than I usually haul. I’d say it’s closer to 4 rick.

Yup that would be true, and back then Henry was known for load on Sunday, shoot all week.......

That’s probably true or even exaggerated considering the high cost of ammunition then but definitely not like the Wild West movies.

What do we have there, is the top rifle octagon? love octagon barrels, 44 mag, 45 colt, or 45-70 ?

I've never ruined a fuel line pinching it with needle nose vise grips. Just adjust them so they "just shut off the fuel"...

Top rifle is 22 Win mag., the other two are LR's...

What do you use it for mostly Oldpath05, firewood?

I cut a lot of apple, and this is heavier. And BIGGER. The trunk must be 30" or so. Cherry? I don't know my wood. Mostly Elm (dead) for firewood here.

Cherry is generally lighter than Apple - At least Black Cherry is

It didn't look like oak to me, from the picture it doesn't appear to have the obvious pores which oak and ash have. I hadn't thought of walnut, we don't see that up here unless somebody planted it. Pictures of "walnut firewood" on Google appear very much like what IT has though, so you may be the winner!

Black Walnut is not all that heavy a wood - It's also lighter than Apple.

I suppose "heavy" is a relative term. If you are used to dealing with softwoods and Elm, then Apple and Walnut are going to seem heavy. If you run across a lot of Oak, Hickory, Locust, and Sugar Maple, things like Apple or Walnut are going to seem light.
