How to stop cars from turning around in my driveway

One winter a car almost ended up in my kitchen as the hill just out front was iced up.
Was 2 AM and I had to get dressed up and fire up the tractor to pull him out.
He was using GPS and swore that he had the correct place.
Not the first time GPS brings unwanted guests either, some even have the nerve to argue as well.

As to chains, well the thieves just steal them for scrap value or yard sales.

Being in that it is autum now is when the no gooders start visiting our chalets as they know most folks are away.
It is one downside of being in cottage country.
Some years we experience as many as 10-15 break ins.
Consequently there are lots of game cams and alarms now installed but LEO response time tends to run 20 mins which the perps well know.

She shouldn't have approached the car. Just take a picture, make some mental notes, and call the cops about a suspicious vehicle. Stay in the house.
F numbers are on the east and south sides of all roads in this county, odds are west and north sides. All county addresses start at 50,000 at the north and 10,000 at the east. 59100 is 9.1 miles from the north county line. 26100 is 16.1 miles from the east county line. Our east west road are all names, in Alphabetical order from north to south... Adams, Brick, Cleveland, Douglas, Edison.... Our north south roads are all tree names in alphabetical order from east to west.... Ash, Beech, Cedar, Dogwood, Elder... with very few exceptions. Yet several times a week we would get people coming up to our door looking for the people that live across the street, because all of the mailboxes are on our side of the road. Ours is at our driveway. The people across the street's mailbox is across the road from the end of their driveway, which happens to be directly in front of our front door. :laughing:

Some people were never taught. Some people cannot be taught. Some people are clueless. Some people will follow their GPS down a boat ramp into a lake.

Ever try to unfold and read a map at 60-70 mph? I have, as have most people over the age of about 40. Lots of people got distracted and took the wrong route following maps in the old days too. The technology for navigation has changed, but the same problems exist when people drive without thinking or paying attention to the road.

Semi-related, lots of cars disable touch command and will only allow voice-command for the navigation system when the car is in drive, but having to repeat the street address 25 times is more distracting than pressing a button would be.

Semi-related, my wife can spend 4 hours looking at her phone when we are on a trip but if I ask her to check the map her response will be "I can't look down at that, I''ll get sick!"

A number of cases of guns being drawn on people in my area. One guy was shot at. Not a smart thing to do but it happens. Stories made the news a couple of times.

My ex-neighbor did it a couple of times and was eventually charged. He wound up leaving for another state. He was a bit of nut case but I do miss him when we get jerks riding around.

My first winter here, a big SUV pulls up to the gate and stops. I am working in the pole barn and walk the 100 yards to investigate...carrying of course. Find out it is a reporter and one of the "victims". Learned about my crazy neighbor. Wondered what kind of mess I had moved into but as the months went by my crazy neighbor as always OK with me. He had issues with hunters and others who trespassed.

GPS is a joke on these phones. My wife will put an address but wont tell me where... just telling me to turn here and there, doubling back and all that crazy crap. We get to the desination 1-1/2 later and I look at her and say... we could have been here in 30 minutes as I know the area !
Now as far as getting to my house, the GPS will route everyone to the street behind me which is a dead end. Ive had delivery drivers call me and say the GPS says there are here but can not find my street or house, I tell them they are on the back side of me and no access, that's why I gave instructions to NOT turn off the main road at XXX street and go about a 1/2 mile down to XXXX street and follow that road, it really is that much of a difference in driving distance to get to me. Im guessing that's why I get trespassers cutting through on foot because the GPS shows them one street connects to another when it doesn't.
The LEO are now treating trespassing here as a Criminal Trespass since its been ongoing and they have no reason to be on my Posted property, ignoring several signs. I cant leave anything outside since I never know who is cutting through ( and there is a drug house near by that contributes to this foot traffic ) and when I do confront them I get cussed out and told they can do whatever they want... well sucks to be them soon. The select few who have been caught don't come through anymore since Karma was set in motion and has died down since last year with the neighborhood facebook postings as well as other neighbors are tired of it too.
