My propane furnace is completely outside of my house, they call it a "gas pack" here. The whole unit sits outside, Propane heat and the AC unit so propane never gets inside my house.
Does it act similar to a heat pump? On another note, for every article I post about propane problems I'll bet that I could find a dozen major fires caused by improperly installed and/or maintained wood stoves.

It bears repeating that propane vapors are heavier than air, natural gas is lighter than air. Any leaks in propane settle into the lower extremes of your house. Basements, unvented crawl spaces etc. Then when something ignites it your basement acts like a rocket booster.

No, I works just like a gas furnace, but its outside and ducts to the inside.

Gotcha. A lot of people up here have a similar setup for heating with wood. The furnace is out back in the woodshed, with lines running to the house. It's a lot safer, although you need to go outside to fill the firebox.

I prefer my firewood stacked to 6' high, annnnd I forgot to mention, I hate knee work to!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must have the most accommodating wife on TBN..................

I kneel on folded carpet, no big deal at all...

Here's an exact quote from my wife,

"why wouldn't I help, it heats my azz too"

Actually, she calls it a stress reliever...

 . . . I use a piece of some high density foam that came with a piece of equipment to kneel on to pitch my wood to the basement.

I find firewood processing and burning to be a stress reliever as well.

Ditto here. I really enjoy splitting it with a maul, although as I get older I tend to use Mr Hydraulics more and more.

Do you guys remember this oak? I probably posted a pict. of it in the "seat time" thread.

It's tornado damaged, so I rotary cut all the HEAVY brush out from around it... AND as it was a very dangerous one to cut down, so I asked a friend who is an arborist, to come help me cut it, and a few others down too. And that's exactly what we did today.

It had a HUGE base with three big tree's coming out of it,

standard.jpg

There was a LOT of broken off limbs ect. that had to come out first, so we hooked the winch line onto them and winched them out,

standard.jpg

The big ones that were REALLY holding on, we winched on them to pull the trunks over,

Here's the last one, ready to come down,

as I winched it over,

Each of the three attached trees were pretty big,

and that just left the stump. See the wire in it? Dad and me, put that fence up more than 50 years ago!!

Then it was on to the next one, a hard maple,

and another hard maple,

and then this bitternut hickory. It sure looks good, UNTIL you get up to it, and it's split in two, for 20 feet!

Pallet forks with grapple, sure takes care of the brush!

We did a few others too, but that's all the picts for today!
