I recently purchased this tractor from my father in law. He said there has been an oil leak for a long time and he just checks both the engine oil and hyd oil before each run because it would require alot of work to fix. Tractor runs fine, the only thing i noticed is after running for a long time, with the clutch all the way down, the engine PTO will not stop spinning. Maybe because there is oil in the clutch from a bad rear main seal?

Second, I noticed a bolt is missing on the plate below. I'm assuming it fell out or is stripped. I'm thinking about removing one of the other bolts and seeing if it will fit. I can stick my finger up in there and feel threads and alot of gunk. If it does fit without stripping then purchase another bolt.

Should I pull the whole plate, replace the gasket and reinstall?

The oil leak below is after about 3 hours heavy mowing at 95 degrees. It is clearish and does not look like black engine oil. Looks like alot but it did not leak through the cardboard and does not leak when its sitting. Hyd oil dipstick shows "low". I don't really want to split the tractor, so is adding a little hyd fluid the 4 or 5 times a year I work it acceptable? 20190916_200532.jpg20190916_200539.jpg

That plate is just a access to the clutch and to adjust the PTO clutch.

What oil does you use on the rear? Hopefully not hydraulic oil?

I haven't put any in yet. I was going to get some from tractor supply.

Hydraulic oil and 10/30 Universal tractor oil are very different, the first are thin as water and I have seen several times that pepole use hydraulic oil because the tractor has hydraulic, that's why I asked.
