Funny you say that... Long time ago, my soon to be wife, age 33 at the time, had a driving accident (she had been driving since she was 16). NEVER one accident, not even one little fender bender, not even one ticket in 17 years of driving. Nothing. She's like Miss Goody two shoes LOL Right before we were getting married, she turned into a shopping center and got the front right corner of her car smashed up. Didn't look that bad. Long story short, new car that they decided to total and they determined it was her fault. After the crap they put her through (state farm) I just put on my policy when we got married. I believe they were going to like double or triple her premium. Something really stupid.

I have driven about 3 days without it in my life, I consider carrying insurance to be a responsibility to my fellow motorists. (I also have had 1 claim in 40+ years and over a million miles.) Saturday I was stopped for speeding, I didn't slow down soon enough going into town.
(no excuse, but they moved the sign back about 1/4 mile.)
That wasn't a problem; what was is that somehow my insurance company got the wrong serial # when I bought the truck 4 years ago. I got that straightened out but the update is effective today, and it appears that I still have a $186 fine for driving without insurance despite paying for it all of these years. The worst part is that the company will then charge me for what was most likely their error... causing me to drop them after 20+ years.

The good thing is that I found out this way, rather than getting into a major accident and ending up on the hook.

Have you tried talking with an insurance company official?

Auto registration issues can be very nasty.

Some years ago my daughter-in-law's dad bought her a car that had been stolen, recovered, and auctioned (dad was the buyer).
A year later, the daughter was driving her car, and was stopped for a tail light out.
Car had never been cleared from the stolen car list. They booked her at the police station, for Grand Theft Auto (Palm Springs).
An adorable 24 year old kindergarten teacher,..... reduced to tears.
She was traumatized.

Took a few phone calls to get that ugly mess straightened out!

I’m digging up old paperwork right now, trying to figure out what happened and how I gave them the serial #. I had a loan against it, so they had to be going back and forth with the Credit Union. Then I am going to pursue it further.

My homeowners dropped me after a hail storm ruined the roof and siding. Paid the damages with an enclosed letter we were dropped.
