Those generators have a fairly good THD rating. Yes, the no name engines are almost always Chinese clones but there must be other differences since the THD drops to 5% on the models with better engines. 100% copper windings vs AL and copper, etc.

Subaru made great air cooled gas engines but I thought they dropped out of the market? Or maybe not, I am not sure.

Kubota is buying Subaru's entire line of small engines and all the tooling as well. In fact they are actually producing a DOHC twin right now. My wife has one in her Kubota side by side. Nice looking (and sounding) motor. Mild tune, 58 horse from 850 cc. EFI.

That would be a smart move for Kubota at the right price. I cannot find a link to that subject for some reason. Is it announced?

From what I remember, Kubota designed that engine and had Subaru build it for them. When they first came out, Kubota said they planned to eventually build it on their own. Maybe they bought that part of Subaru. Back a few years, Subaru sold off its small engine production and services it chunks. It seems like Yamaha took some, and some might have been shut down completely. But that was the smaller stuff as I remember, and the larger "small" engine chunk went elsewhere.

What my dealer told me. I see the oil filter on the new Sidekick my wife purchased is a 'Kubota' filter. Dang engine has a cat on it and an O2 sensor and feedback circuitry. I can see Kubota getting into the small engine market to diversify their lines. Subaru is doing just fine in the automotive market, in fact, I'd consider a Subaru all wheel drive buggy myself if I didn't require a 1 ton pickup truck for the farm. Make a nice, long lasting car that holds it's resale value quite well.

I have a Subaru Robin engine. My memory was they took over Robin engines. I do not remember anything about Kubota

The little SP engines are great, I wish someone would start the line back up as US made but with the cost of no name engines theses days that would be hard. Maybe with more tariffs. This little pressure washer was free to me, a give away. It had not been run in years according to the owner and they did not know why. It had apparently tipped over and hydrolocked itself. I took the plug and carb off, tipped everything upside down on my drain pan. Came back a couple of hours later, put it back together and filled it with oil and gas. Started after about 4 pulls. Smokey of course for a few minutes. Now it starts in one, maybe two pulls. Great engine.

Nice ! Were the valves close to spec?
Can you notice the difference in how it runs?

Keep us posted as you approach the 10k mark.
