I do put a little seafoam in the diesel. Wonder if that would cause that?

That's hard to say..
Personally I use SF in my daily driver once in awhile & its a noticeable difference.. but then again, I'm using it "as directed".
For future reff.. LOOK UP/FIND the starting procedure using glow plugs specifically for your machine.. & follow the instructions..
Write down the date u bought the GP's.. & compare it to the "next time" u have to buy some..
Don't forget/Keep In Mind, Glow Plugs are a WEAR ITEM.. they are designed to be replaced.. Just like a fan belt or a battery..
AND there ARE differences in manufacturers.. so if it becomes a REAL problem.. switch manuf.. Bosch, Denso, NGK.. to name a few..

Happy that u got it up & running w/o anything major happening..

Hey thanks again, l do use what sf SF recommends. The manual states to to hold Gp'S on for 30 seconds. Just think they should last longer than a year l dont think anything internally would cause that..

Just for reference, I put over on 400 hours over 13 years on my Ford 1700 (total hours 850) without issue or replacement. I used only Power Service silver bottle. My tractor required glow plug use (30 seconds or less) regardless of ambient temperature. Another 1700 forum member said he had to use them as well. For what its worth, Dean

Good morning, well installed my glow plug indicator and both glow plugs and did a multimeter check to make sure I'm getting power to the plugs, all is well there. Did try to start after heating up the plugs for 30 seconds. Still cranks but no ignition. Getting smoke out of the stack when cranking. Plugged in the block heater and let it heat up for 2 hours. And then it starts, worn rings? Did a compression test last year and it was 390 on both cylinders

Ya know.. that 30 sec. instruction was for a fresh engine.. just say'n,, ya might try 60..??
How about the injectors.?? They're relatively inexpensive to re-do.. maybe they aren't atomizing the fuel properly..??
& even the pump has to pump the correct/enough fuel to start..
I'd start w/ a longer gp time..
Then move to the injectors & lastly the pump..
ALL THIS is based on the assumption that the compression is good & the valves are set right & the starter is spinning fast enough..
