Does anyone know if this ignition switch plate is available. Is it correct for a 1962 703.
I found a similar red one and a yellow one ,ignition plate on eBay.

I'm replacing my power steering lines and had to pull off the dash. I figure its a good time to start fresh paint and wiring. 58 years of patched up wires.
I just bought this 703 backhoe from a friend. It's in fair condition but some hydraulic hoses need replaced.
Also what plate and switch goes on the right side, mine was missing

Well I don't know why I typed 703 in the last post. It's a 203 industrial. I don't have a manual. Can the steering play be adjusted? I see a locking nut on a stud with a slot on the end of the stud. It's at the end of where the worm gear would be.
Is the steering unit lubricated from the pump or is there a separate gearcase?

I'm replacing all the power steering lines and the pump.
Any help is appreciated. I'm not new to tractors but I am new here and don't know this model.
Thanks Mike

You hit the nail on the head. It can be a painful but every new/old gives me something. More pain.
My friend bought this. I helped him with a clutch# 1. Front pump failed #2 fixed that and injector pump blew. I put a seal kit an that.
He went and bought a 39 h.p. New Kabota. Had Enough.

Not me. I bought his backhoe. It's almost new now.:banghead:
It's coming around.

That threaded stud with the slot/lock nut is used to take some of the slack out of the steering, assuming you mean the one on the left side of the housing near your left foot. I’ve got to do the same thing, mine has lots of play. Don’t over do it, though.

Your machine is very similar to mine, functionally it’s nearly identical to the 202 and the 35 Utility (like mine).

I’ve got to replace a PS line too, it’s leaking on top of the trans housing.

I still gotta put the chains and wheel weight back on the right rear, just had the loop replaced.

A leak on top of the transmission is a difficult place to work without removing that large bracket and dash. While I'm there I'm replacing all 6 power steering lines. They are all falling apart.
Your 35 utility does look like mine. Do you know if the gearbox on the p.s. is lubricated by the pump fluid or do I need to remove that plug on top and fill with oil.
I really need an exploded view. I seen a seal online that must be for the steering wheel shaft. I may replace that also.

I would like to know if any points that it may leak. like if they leak where the arms pivot. I don't want to revisit this section again. It wouldn't have been that bad it didn't have an inch of grease on everything. The top the transmission where the hoses attach. That big bracket took a while to degrease. The fuel return line was leaking giving it fuel to attract dust and make muck.
I'm rewiring everything. 58 years of patched up wires. In fact I found the neutral safety switch with no wires. I will hook it up. That's the first thing that guys bypass because its a pain sometimes but it can save you from getting squashed.
Adjusting that worm gear is touchy because I'm pretty sure there has to be some play in the steering wheel for the power steering unit to cense direction. Open and close valves.
Thanks for replying
Mike
