Why I bought the 460. Even on my 'up north' property, a 'long distance' shot might be 100 yards with mist much closer.

You're a better man than I. When I deer hunter, I just used a powered down .45-70 (guide gun) round for deer

A deer is not difficult to harvest, and it will not charge you, so no real need for copious amounts of energy. My kills have been at 135 yards maximum due to my location and hunting conditions. I have permission to hunt a neighbors power line the second week if I am not succesful on my acreage, and I can get shots to 300 yards there. My neigbor has about 14 food plots and some are along the power lines. The .308 is more than capable.

Plus I do not like recoil so the bigger boomers are of little interest. I have a muzzle brake on the .300 Win Mag but it is too much gun for a deer IMHO.

I believe the cartridge restrictions are silly. We can use a .450 Bushmaster down state but not a .30/30. Makes no sense to me.

People making the laws that know nothing about the subject. I didn't even bother hunting when I lived in NY due how the laws changed depending on your location and what you could use (90's perhaps things have changed, no clue).

The 460 is very tame to shoot actually. Recoil is on par with a 308 with little ti no muzzle climb. Much tamer than a 44 RM (have one of those as well).

One of my friend's is 73 and shoots the 460 one handed off hand.

Might use my 10 point as well. I like hunting with a bow. Takes much more skill to get close enough

Food plots are legal. We would not get away with them if they were illegal. I have two, and my neighbor has over a dozen. All on less than 300 acres. Difficult to avoid detection.

Michigan rules anyway.

Havent hunted in a couple of years, been letting my son have at it. But this year Im thinking I will dig out my Ruger .41 and hunt with it. My .454 is a little hard on the carpal tunnel.
