Kioti has a 5 year warranty on emissions. Time will tell on how long these last. The cost to repair these systems in not going to be cheap. It is nice not to have to smell diesel fumes when working with a tractor all day. I don't miss the stink from my last tractor. I do miss not having my tractor when it is not running right.

My tractors don't 'stink' at all. Combusted diesel has little smell compared to say an DEF overdosing diesel engine that will make your eyes water.

You buy the emissions compliant diesel engines, and at some point way down the road, you get to pay for the components, when they fail...

I will say (from experience with Class 8 compliant engines that cleaning a DPF cartridge will cost between 300 and 500 bucks and often times replacement is necessary and that can be upwards of $1000 bucks. I saw that play out many times with big trucks and the emission control warranty don't cover that, you cover that out of your pocket because the cartridge is considered a consumable item. It consumes your money.....:laughing:

I know my dealer personally as well as his head mechanic or should I say 'technician' and I asked him candidly one time a while ago about the emissions junk and his reply was.... I just sell and service them but my personal engines are all pre Tier 4.

Guess that covers that.

On commercial fleet's and on the road non agriculture trucks you have no choice. Fines are a consideration and being able to pass yrly insp is the biggest issue. But the idea that I can be in my tractor 2am in the morning keeping my road clear in a blizzard and having my machine forcing me to stop for a Regen is mind numbing. I don't know much about the systems used in tractors buy have seen the horror shows that low rpm stop and go fleet's go thru. Garbage companies, school bus and city transportation are going thru **** with these DPF systems. Alot of school bus companies are actually switching back to gas engines and propane power now. The idea that an individual who takes care of a small farm or personal property with a tractor having to burdened with a system that's bound to fail and cost a fortune is insane. My advice is do the research and rip the thing out as soon as the warranty period is up or buy a pre DPF machine.

As far as I know none of the tractors force you to stop to do a regen. Now, who knows how they will be once they are 10 years old, problems may develop or not. I do believe there is a lot of misunderstanding of how they work. Would be nice to not have the DPF but it is a fact that new tractors have them. Hopefully they keep working and do not cause major issues down the road. I don't expect major problems with mine with the hours I will use it, just have to wait and see. In the mean time I will enjoy using it and not spend any time worrying about something that has not happened yet.

The EPA has mandated the 5 year emissions system warranty. It is identical across all manufacturers.

As far as I know none of the tractors force you to stop to do a regen. Now, who knows how they will be once they are 10 years old, problems may develop or not. Kioti's regen cycle starts out with a solid light and the RPM's go down to 2100. If the system works fine you are all set. If that regen light starts blinking you need to stop what your doing, put it in neutral, lock the brake and pull the throttle back to an idle, then hit the manual regen button and wait until it is finished. You can sit there waiting for 30 - 40 minutes. Mine will run for 10 minutes and go straight to the CEL light. Then you have no choice but to trailer it up and bring it back to the dealer again and again for the same problem until somebody figures out what is wrong with it. Mine only does this when I am mowing at 2500 rpm's and there is very little load on the tractor from mowing because I run it slow knowing that it is going to screw up again.
