Buying Advice Buying 2006 Kubota L3400 with under 300 hours

Check the unit out but tires and hoses are probably still fine. Tires should be good for thirty or forty years and hydraulic hoses may go longer than that.

Depends on the quality and how much time it was in the sun.

I just replaced a dry rotted hydraulic hose on my backhoe that was only 3 years old. The backhoe stays outsife but this particular hose is shielded.

My hose supplier was using some "Made in Italy" hose for a while. I hope they don't all follow along. They have switched to a different brand but it's still foreign made.

My last hose I had made I went to the Carquest and paid for made in the USA Gates hose and fittings.

The tires on my 2015 Kubota are already cracking. I am in the process of putting up a building, but until then I have no choice but to leave it outside.

I may offer the guy 18.5. He may not take it.

Do u think I壇 be making a mistake paying $20k for a 2006?

I just got off the phone with him and they used it during constructing of a cabin and since then it痴 mainly been sitting. He says it痴 too hilly where he is to be cutting with it. So it was mainly used for trenching digging dirt moving.

He also has filters for the next service. It has 270 hrs on it.

He said at one point he got a flat in the front and the dealer patched it up. It has the original battery.

He said tires and hoses r good. Tires aren稚 loaded.

He has 3pt hitch with it and ROPS.

Also i live 2.5hrs away from it so he says he knows a guy who can transport. He told me he?d take $20k delivered for it.

I think it’s about 20-22 new without a backhoe. I think that’s about $8500 more. Does anyone that’s actually bought one recently know? Having a backhoe it’s probably not a bad price. Being garage kept I wouldn’t worry about it being a 2006 either.

IMHO sometimes it is worse for a machine to sit for a long periods of time verses use it a little more with higher hours.

I agree. It sounds like he would start it up and stuff. But not for long

I知 very on the fence about all of it.

Have you thought of driving the 3 hours and having a look at it? Meeting the seller and a hands on inspection would eliminate your apprehensions.

Here is info for comparison:

This past June, I bought a 2006 Kubota L48 with 250 hours (on CL) from the original owner.
It was an 8 hour drive away, but I had a long ago college roommate who lived very close to the seller, go to look at it.

His report was that "it looked good", but had some areas of surface rust.
It had lived it's entire 13 years of life to date outside.
I did not like that!
I thought I trusted my friend, but I did consider that the story might not play out the way I would like it to.

The L48 is a medium size industrial TLB, and although the model is no longer made, the new replacement model is pushing 60K.
I would have never considered a new one at 60K. This was just an early toy, for my 79th birthday,.... next month.

The machine has all the bells and whistles.
Hoe has a nice hydraulic thumb
There are 3 rear remotes.
There is also one front remote, and that has a diverter.
The diverter allows locking on to any loader attachment without leaving the seat....very sweet item.
A 24" quick attach backhoe bucket.

A 13 year old Kubota 48HP TLB with 250 hours.
I paid 32K.
Perhaps that number will help for comparison purposes.

Hydraulic hoses are all very good.
Diesel fill rubber grommet was bad....I have replaced it.
Tires show some very minor weather checking.
The seat cushion was torn, and I replaced it with an aftermarket seat.
Both fenders had minor underside surface rust, and I removed them, sandblasted, primed, and repainted.
I have refreshed the instrument console with 3M 303.....looks like new now.
I have repainted two small areas of the forward frame, and the grill guard, to get the gloss back.

I like refurbishment projects like this, and when I am done, the L48 will look very close to new.
I will buff the tractor, and loader parts, but the hoe is well on it's way to Mary Kay pink.
I do not like Mary Kay pink !!!
I think I will give just the hoe, a repaint next summer.
Although the machine did live outside, it was in Maine, and was shaded by tall spruce trees.

It is a nice machine!
I am satisfied with my purchase......and...
Maybe 28K less than a new one?

I have a L3700SU HST with the loader and backhoe, basically the same as the 3400 about 280 hours and about 7-8 years old. I bought it new and it was about 26k... I wouldn't sell it for 21k today. At 300 hours it has decades of life left in it.
