One issue to resolve, you might need to spec an EPA- qualifying gas engine so it doesn't get stopped at US Customs.

YES! True for the trash pump, too.

I'm impressed by the description. Aside from shipping cost that looks great, if it is as described.

Only the hoist capacity at 10 tons sounds a little optimistic.

Did you look on AliExpress? They seem to have US shipping figured out. They seem to have several offerings.
I have never heard of Aliexpress until now
Re EPA-qualifying engine: Possibly order it less engine and add that yourself, here. Note they specify a 1500 rpm diesel.
Ill have to google EPA qualifying engine but thanks for the heads up
Yes, Alibaba can now do what is needed to handle shipping, customs, etc. I could not use it last year, as the smallish Port of Oakland was not included. This year it is, so this year's FCL shipment from Qingdao was handled by Alibaba. Much easier. Dunno is Tampa is on the list.

In looking at the above listing for a Deep-Rock style of drilling rig, I see that the seller has good history with Alibaba, so I would go thru them for purchase, shipping, etc. Also, there are probably numerous sellers on Alibaba selling the same thing, so an RFQ query may be appropriate.

I looked into buying a Deep Rock rig back in the 90s. It was expensive, but my plan was killed by the State of CA, as it is one of only 2 DIY construction activities forbidden without the right license.
Ok so Im reading that you suggest stick with Alibaba, unless Im misunderstanding you are stating that it looks like deep rock buys alot of their stuff thru them as well.

What is an RFQ query..........OK I see, you are suggesting shopping around for a possible better price.

Can you address the questions I posted in # 16 of this thread?

Are you suggesting I order less engine as well as the pump?

Request For Quote. In other words submit a proposal to me.

Alibaba has an RFQ service, where any vendors offering something like what you want will send you info. If there are lots of vendors making, say well-drilling rigs, then you may be a bit overwhelmed with the # of responses. Getting some choices of vendor is more than just price. Will they provide an EPA engine? What is their rating with Alibaba? How long in business? Size of company? Specialty?

You can buy a trash pump in the US to avoid getting non-EPA engine for that part of the drilling system. When importing you have to sign a doc stating any engine you bring into the US is EPA-legal.

When you are considering a vendor, ask a lot of Qs, always using the Alibaba email service. Unless your Mandarin is good, don't bother with tel calls or WeChat. All msgs will be preserved. Sometimes, I resorted to photos with annotations, also sent thru Alibaba.

I will do that.

I guess maybe I've decided to buy the machine I linked too. Sent out a rfq on alibaba and only have had a few hits on the inquiry so far.

The machines were considerably more expensive.
I
m not looking for the cheapest unit but I can pay someone 5-6 thous to put in a well or I can hopefully buy a drill myself, save a little money, have the ability of putting in multiple wells and have the experience of doing it myself. (Priceless)

The biggest help I've gotten here so far is the warning against the possible non epa engine.

As it turns out the engine that comes with the rig is a diesel non EPA approved. They do not offer an EPA approved engine.

If I would have proceeded with the purchase with provided engine and it would have got caught at port I would have been up the creek witbout a paddle.

I have a quote for the machine without engine and the total is approx 1800 shipped to the Tampa seaport.

I need to get a breakdown of that figure I.E. what is the cost of the drill and the shipping.

I am wondering if the cost of the drill is negotiable.

Im not impressed with what I see in the pictures as far as durability, I am however less impressed with the drills offered here in U.S when considering construction/price.

I have contacted a couple of local brokers. Im glad I did this, one couldn't answer some basic questions, the other knew what he was doing.

Fees are as suspected. The highest being a 25% tariff on the price of the item.

This is important to understand so that I am able to communicate with the seller to provide seperate lines on the invoice for shipping\cost of item.

I only pay tariff on item cost, not shipping.

The package includes a 220 volt mud pump....can someone here tell me if there is anything I should be concerned with here I.E is Chinese 220V electric same as American?

Many Chinese-made electrical items are set up for 220VAC/50Hz, as that is the standard domestic electrical service in Europe and many other countries. In the US, the standard is 120VAC, and 240VAC, both 60Hz. The 240VAC here will have a different plug, and the frequency setting will not allow you to use many devices not set up for US electrical service.

There is nothing wrong with hiring your own customs broker who will handle all the details. You may also want to pay Alibaba for their inspection service, where someone visits the factory for you and examines the product before it is shipped. It may be $100-150 well-spent.
