Just had my 50 hour service done by kubota dealer I purchased from. I told him to do the 50 hour service and sharpen rotary cutter blades. I was shocked when the service manager told me it was $1100. I asked what they did and he said they changed all fluids and filters. He said this was to honor any future warranty claims.

I think this is total BS and just a way to make more money. I was born at night but not last night. It honestly soured me.

What do you think?

One way to find out is to call a couple more dealers and ask what they would charge to do the 50 hour service. You did not say if the dealer picked up and returned. The 7060 is a large tractor and the sumps hold a lot of that Kubota Super.

You can also look in your owners manual and see what is required at the 50 hour service.

Too much, my dealer offered to do our M8540HDC initial service on site for $100, next time they had a truck near. I had already bought all the fluids. Didn't want to wait, so our son did it. We sharpen our own blades, but I cant imagine it being all that expensive.

Did you get an itemized bill?
How much was labor and how much was materials.
I don't know how much oil or hydraulic fluid she holds but 15 gallons of hydraulic would be what? $240
Fuel, oil, air, hydraulic filters close to $250
Any strainers to pull and clean,
checking bolt torques on how many fasterners,
be easy to spend 5-8 hours labor at what $75 to $100 per hour,
heck how much time just to sharpen rotary cutter blades, brush hog? pull the blades grind reinstall thats at least a couple of hours.

Forgot to mention, nothing is mentioned in manual about fluid changes on 50 hour service.

if it was a full service on that sized tractor, might not be that far off. Tome the big question would be, what does Kubota recommend? My L called for engine oil and filter and one of the hydraulic filters. I did it myself for around $100,

I'd go back and ask them to put it in writing the fluid replacement was needed to validate warranty. Then I'd take it up with Kubota corporate.

According to the manual I found on line, only the engine oil and filter is replaced at 50 hours. Hydraulic and axle fluid don't get replaced until 1,000 hours.

This tractor takes a lot of fluid.... 12.7 quarts of engine oil and 59.2 quarts of hydraulic fluid is needed for trans and the front axle needs another 13.2 quarts. Keep in mind 5 gallons of SUDT2 is approximately $110.

Good luck!

Not sure about your 7060 but my owners manual does specify that the transmission/hydraulic fluid be changed at 50 hours in my 9960 along with all filters aside from air and fuel.

It holds about 16 gallons of SUDT2, so it's an expensive service but certainly not worth $1,100 excepting unknown extras.

The first service is very important as that is when the manufacturing debris is removed. I found a considerable amount of metal filings on the filter magnets. It is my understanding that at least some Kubota tractors (not sure about HSTs) are not shipped with SUDT2 in the sump as it is expected that such will be added at 50 hours. Gear howl under load quieted considerably in my 9960 after first service.

I do my own services so was out only the cost of the oil and filters (and time).

NEVER tell your dealer to do something without getting a quote.

M9960 owner's manual specifies hydraulic/transmission to be changed at 50 hours. Would certainly expect 7060 to be the same.
