I use diesel grade oil 5W 30 in my Harleys, Kawasaki powered Hustler ZTR, as well as the little diesel Mahindra. Usually Delo 400 or Mobil Delvac. It's extra rotection for the hard working air cooled engines here in Missouri where summer where temps approach 100 f and Winter sees 0 f or slightly colder.

Mis-applications are not reccommended. No oil manufacturer would ever advise a 5w30 in a Harley, and neither would the MOCO. I call BS!!

One of my buddies thought that 15-40 that they bought by the pallet where he worked would be a good fit for his Ford V10. It didn’t work out good for him.

I was in your same boat a few years ago. All kind of dif grade oil on the shelf...then i found rotella t5 5w40 was good for wet clutches, so it went it all my quads. My 09 accord started useing 1qt of oil every 1,000mi, turns out there was a recal that i missed for burnt oil holding the piston rings in. I started changing the oil with T5 every 1,000mi and after about 4-5,000mi the car no longer uses oil. 5w40 is my oil of choice for alot of things now so thats what i stock.

Since your kohler is basicly a throw away engine i would use what your kioti manufacture recomends.

Rotella T6 5W-40 is an awfully good all-around everything oil. Know it works well in your KLR650. Check specs of the other things for compatibility.

Any suggestions on a common engine oil i could use in both out cub cadet petrol kohler command 13hp engine and our kioti 36hp diesal engine? might even use it in the KLR650 as well. got way to many lubricants on the shelf with 2 stroke oil and UTF. also looking at buying 20l drums. our weather is relatively mild, generally 10 to 20 deg Celsius with a few days into the 30 and occasionally 40s but never minus.

iam tending to think penrite HPR 10w40 semi synthetic.

Gee you have the same stuff I do (including a KLR...l0l). I use Rotella T6 in everything, including the KLR which has a washable stainless mesh oil filter and the 'doohickey' installed as well. Tell everyone my KLR is a lawnmower on 2 wheels.

I also used t6 5w40 in my 2014 250l dual sport. After time i could feel the clutch actinf up a bit so i knew it was time to change the oil.

I am partial to 10w30 for my diesels, gassers, lawn mowers, generators, etc. Just about everything from a 12.7L diesel I have on down to my zero turn JD lawn mower and Yamaha 2000i generator. The 12.7L diesel now has about 1,033,080 miles on it. Still only uses about 1 qt of oil every 11-12,000 miles and the motor is all original except for the water pump. I have lost track of the hours on my Yamaha portable generator. It gets used regularly, year round and I have had it for about 8 years. Yeah.... a 10w30 works.

10w30 is hard to find in a diesel spec oil around here.
