yanmar 2310D
Help just bought a 82 yanmar 2610d. No owners manual and need some help knowing all the controls. Not sure what several of them are for and don't understand the 2 shifters and the pto gears. Anyone have a video or pictures along with explanation.

Post some pictures of your questions and many of us can probably tell you what is what and where.
Your 2610D is a power shift tranny this is indicated by the xx10. IMG_6808.JPG
This is the power shift lever providing 1 reverse and 3 forward gears.

This is a range selection lever you have 5 options here. C=crawl you may never use this range then 1-4. The first picture you have 3 forward and 1 reverse in each of the 5 ranges.
You should have a foot throttle lever near your brake pedals on the right, a diff lock lever near your right heel, a 2wd/4wd lever on the Left side of tranny hump. And hand throttle near your steering wheel on the Right side.
Again post some pictures with your questions.

Also Hoye has manuals for most of these tractors.
Hoyetractors.com will get you to their website.
Good luck and welcome to the forum congrats on the yanmar!

Thanks for the info. I will take pictures and as I fix this model up will buy the set of decals. Seems everything you mentioned is where you said and some I had figured out. I am not sure on the 4wd lever assuming forward is 4wd and back toward driver is 2wd but I can test this after I go through all fluids and such before putting it to work. Will also order a manual. Am going to take some pictures of a few things that are still confusing to me

You have PM. Also, if you need, I can get a page or two out of the YM2500/YM2610 Service Parts Manual too. It's a thick paper book with diagrams and in Japanese. The good thing is, the part numbers are in our font 1234567890. So, a search on a number will give the English name of the part.

Post those pictures of the things confusing you. Someone here will be able to answer you I am sure.
The photos I shared were screen shots from a YouTube video, so check out those as well.

Do you have a YM2610 or a YM2310? Your post and you sig in the left box are different.

The lever with the 3-2-1-N-R. Move this to N. This is the Power-Shift.
The stick to the left selects the gear range. You need to depress the clutch all the way to put this in a gear. Try the one marked 2.
You can then lift up the clutch all the way. Let the engine RPMs be at 1,200-ish.
If nothing is in front of the tractor, move the Power-Shift from N to 1. In a few seconds move to 2. The again to 3.
You are moving along in gear range selection 2.
To brake fast or stop, slide the Power-Shift to N and use the pedals on the right foot. OR Left foot clutch and right foot brake.

Now for the PTO. This tractor has 4 PTO ranges. You can see the selector to the left side when sitting in the seat.
Yanmar PTO selection speeds are as follows for the engine at 2200 RPM.

1=542
2=685
3=1005
4=1268

HOWEVER, you can manipulate the engine RPM and the PTO selection choice to arrive at different PTO output speeds. Making it all variable. BUT, it's EZ to understand the knack about it.

Put the tractor in neutral and we'll check this out. increase the engine speed to 2200 rpms. Then with the clutch, put the PTO selection to 1. let out the clutch. turning to the back, the PTO is spinning at 540rpms. The TACH image below (I had just washed the tractor), shows the needle with the tractor off. When the engine starts, the left top swings right. When it swings right to 2200rpms, the bottom of the need points to 540 (500+). Slow the engine speed down to 1800rpms, use the clutch and pick PTO 2. Guess what, you are back spinning the PTO at 540 (500+) once again. Likewise PTO selector 3 at 1400 rpms and PTO selector 4 at 1200rpms.

Why in the world would anyone want to do this??? Well, if the tractor is running a wood chipper or a PTO 5KW generator for power, it makes all the sense to run in PTO 3 or 4 to arrive at the 540 (500+) speed and SAVE ON FUEL.

I run the brush mower on PTO 2 and engine speed 1600 while the Gear selector is in 3 and the Power-Shift is in 3-1 or 3-2. Not only does this save on fuel, the mower runs at it's comfortable speed and the engine isn't working sooooo hard. Plus the hour meter isn't spinning up a storm. All is peaceful when mowing. Plus you will not drop your sweet tea while mowing the back 40.

Is this the description you are seeking? Wish I could make a video, but I've had a major health setback to be any good otherwise. Maybe in the Spring.

Mine is w/o 4WD, thus you need to watch the YT vid for that one.

Good morning, I would like to know what is that little lever.
Also, my gear selector is not going to 3rd or 4th.
Thank you

I do not own a ym2610, although a friend did. I believe your tractor has a 3 forward speed with 1 speed reverse in 4 ranges.
If this us correct you are not getting into 3rd and 4th ranges.
A couple of things—be sure you are completely stopped and clutch is completely depressed. While your speed gears are able ti be shifted without a fully depressed clutch or full stop, I don’t believe your ranges will.
If this does not correct it, check for bent linkages or linkages that are not free to move external to the transmission/differential. If these are not moved regularly, they can “freeze” due to rust/corrosion. Often a decent penetrating oil and light tapping with a hammer while working the linkage will free them. Worse case is you have to take them apart to clean up good. As with any moving part these need to be lube on occasion.
Sorry I have no ideal about the lever.

The lever -might- be to unlock access to use the creep, ultra low, range. But that's mostly a guess based on reading stuff here.
