Rear Inverted Snowblowers 2019

Reading through this thread, I'm surprised no one, unless I missed it, using a rear facing camera. Seems it would be a big help.

I have to look into getting one of those as I really like using the ones in modern vehicles.

Yep, I drive my car into the barn 100 yards away using the rear camera and never look back.

They work well...till blowing snow covers the lens. After that it's like looking through vaseline

I feared that would happen and it was one reason I invested in the pull blower. But in hindsight, mounting the camera inside the cab would solve that problem.

I prefer driving forward even if the backup camera works.

I would like to find an aftermarket unit with the clarity of the one in my 2015 RAM I believe it has the best image I have seen on a vehicle camera.
I have looked before and haven't found the specs for the camera and monitor.

I'm not really concerned about driving through the snow before the blower because for about 10 years I used a rear blade to plow snow and that worked fine. My main concern is that with an inverted blower I would have to blow every snow event and if the travel speed is really slow then I would prefer to use a plow, which I think is way faster, then only use the rear facing blower when the driveway gets too narrow. I have a rear facing blower now but I'm looking for something better.

I purchased a 74” blower. A plow will be faster. For light snow falls, I may use a front mounted blade to windrow to the center of 5he d4ive and then blow.

This picture shows one of the reasons I didn't want an inverted blower. I sold this house a couple years ago so it doesn't apply now.

I would have to remove that snow bank 4 to 6 times per winter, otherwise it would build up to the eves and keep the snow from sliding off the roof. I could bucket all that snow out but that would take a lot longer than blowing it out into the field. With a rear facing blower I could just back along the outside edge of the snow bank pealing off 1 to 2 ft. per pass until it was thin enough there was room for the new snow to come down.

On my current property there are areas I can't blow the snow, inverted or otherwise, so I bucket the snow out. Where I can blow the snow out there is one area an inverted blower wouldn't work so for me so I just stay with my rear facing blower and FEL to get the job done. On top of that I only spend 1 to 2 hours per week moving snow in the winter on this property so it really isn't that big of deal to be looking backwards for that amount of time.

We got a foot of snow and I finally got to try my inverted Meteor. Holy cow that thing blows! Using the rear blade to clear 600 yards of driveway would have taken at least two hours since I have to push the snow way back to make room for subsequent snow storms. With the blower, one pass down and one pass back at a moderately fast speed cleared the entire drive while throwing the snow 30' to the side.

You make a good point. In regions that get a lot of snow you cannot just plow the road/drive. It is necessary to push snow far enough back to make room for subsequent snow events. Plowing is faster if you do not need to do that. So, for many, plowing works well. I can get 12 ft of snow a year so pushing snow around is problematic in some places I need to remove snow.

My setup has a FEL mounted blade and a rear pull blower to address different situations.
