I've been with Ram since 2010 and have known multiple people with them. Very few complaints with them. The 4th gen trucks (1500 since 2009 and HD since 2010?) have a lot of great features. About the only criticism of the 5.7 Hemi was that it broke exhaust manifold bolts in the earlier years of the 4th gen. But this only led to noisy exhaust leaks and no actual engine problems. The Hemi has always been a class leader in power.

On my 2010 1500 I had a Superchips tune in it that gave me ~420HP on 92 octane. That tuning capability was locked down in 2014-2015. My 2010 served me without issues for 120K miles and my 2017 2500 has been great as well. Anyway, I'm not here to knock any other brands, just to say that I've had great luck with Rams and so has everyone else I've known with one in the last decade. No vehicle/brand is without issues but what tells me Ram is good is that I've never known anyone who has had one and then traded it for another brand.

My understanding is they locked down the 5.7 hemi in 2011. You can still tune them but you have to buy an unlocked computer.

I've got a 2014 F 150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and power is never an issue empty or loaded. Normally dragging 6700 lbs of horses, tack and horse trailer the rig gets 11-12 mpg and towing my tractor on a trailer your pushing 8-9000 lbs and again power is never an issue (and before you safety police show up the trailer brakes work just fine and I have no problem stopping).

You won't believe how the 3.5 performs until you try one.

No arguments there. Just turned 40,000 trouble-free miles on my 2016. Can't believe the new high-output 3.5 Ecoboost is rated for 450 HP 510 ft-lbs torque! Heck, the 5.9 Cummins in my 2004 Dodge dually is rated at only 305 HP 555 ft-lbs!

Bringing home 8000 lbs of pellets with the F150...

I just went with the 6.4L... no need for a tune!

I had a 2017 ram 2500 with the 6.4. Awesome truck I just needed bigger and a little more power. I got 2018 Ram 3500 drw 6.7 Diesel. I own a lawncare and landscaping company so I'm always pulling and hauling. It's like night and day difference in power and torque from the gas to the diesel. I've owned Ram since 2001 and haven't had any problems. I have drove ford and chevy when I use to work for state government the ford 6.2 did not have much power it would hesitate if you got on it. The chevy had the 5.3 plenty of power but it was in a single cab short bed Silverado. Never pulled much with the chevy.

I will never drop 40k pluse for a pick up!

I didn't see you mention a price point.
You used 20 year old GM 5.3 numbers to much more current Dodge numbers.
2002 GM and Dodge numbers are 5.3 285HP 325TQ
Hemi 5.7 345HP 365TQ

Just trying to keep it apples to apples.

I've had 3 GM 1500's, 2 with the 6.2 and one with the 5.3, all 2010 and up. They all were rated for 9100# and pulled that amount with no problem on an open deck trailer. My only issue was my camper in terms of sway, it weighs around 8k net so the interstate sway was not much fun. The trucks with the integrated brake controllers were far better than the add on one in terms of sway control. I have all the goodies on a Reese WD hitch as well. Just not enough truck I guess. My new 2500 is a pleasure to tow billboard like trailers.

Having been a Ford truck guy since 1977 I can honestly say that without a doubt I chose the right truck when I bought my 2016 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi in it. There is one dealer near me that has 3 dealerships side by side. They sell Ford, Chevy and Ram's here. I drove all three comparative trucks over the same back roads and put them thru my pace scaring the salesman on back roads. The Ford was the noisiest. Both the Ford and Chevy almost ended up off the road on a curve with lots of bumps. All three had big blocks and seemed to be about the same in a long hill climb for speed and power. I'm sure the neighbors in that area didn't appreciate my high speed runs up the road. I ended up buying the Ram 2500 because it was much quieter, more comfortable to drive and I enjoyed driving it more than the other two vehicles. The price on the Ram was a lot lower than the other 2. I bought it as a leftover at 25.2% off MSRP. One of my nephews was a car salesman back then for Jeep/Ram/Chrysler. He told me that he couldn't touch that price even if he had one in stock. One of my B.I.L has a Ram 1500 and loves it. The 5.7 he has gets much better gas mileage than my 6.4.

Nice when you can make such a test of various models. Many tests become meaningless if spread too far apart.
