WOW you look younger than I thought!

And tell me your thinking and process of storing logs in that pond... very curious indeed!

The picture police suggested that picture was taken 40 years ago.
Up here storing white pine in water was is one way to keep the pine beetles from boring holes in them, cant cut white pine in the summer then leave it without being sawed for more then a month, I think it's a New England white pine problem.

Not just for borers, the mill pond also helped to keep them from staining.

But what happens trying to get wood out of the big pile is, one fork tine goes under and the other goes over a log bunging up the load. Then ya gotta got get out of the cab, straighten the logs up, phew!!!
I wondered about adding a 3rd fork tine to help with this issue?

How about spanning your tips so nothing goes between?

There are several ways of getting logs out of water, wait for low tide, use fishing pole, use row boat, put swimming trunks on and or offer a nickel to someone from NC and tell them it's a swimming pool..............

So itç—´ been discussed often of using pallet forks for moving logs. It can be tricky depending on your situation and what your moving exactly and where! I move 8 logs, mostly smaller diameter. I end up having to move it from the big pile the delivery truck leaves me to my log feed table. I have the single arm grapple to Help. But what happens trying to get wood out of the big pile is, one fork tine goes under and the other goes over a log bunging up the load. I知 also too greedy trying to get a good load on the forks, it痴 never usually too heavy for my rig (M7060)

On my mid size square tubing forks, 2x2" X 2-1/2'-ish long, I have 4 of them spaced equally-ish, then clamped a 1/4"x 4"x 5' flat bar across the front tips with 1/2" bolts, it keeps trees/logs going in-between forks. The flat bar has special fitted welded on pockets that fit the tips of all 4 forks.

That set up works, sort of, but 2-1/2' long forks will get more trees/logs then my tractor will lift, so I use my 2 shorter forks that are just under 2' long, then sometimes even one tree is to much.
