Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #102,801
Good Friday Morning. It was 58° and foggy this morning ... now up to 70° but, still damp and overcast. This may be the high today as it supposed to stay overcast all day.

We had a great dinner yesterday with 10 at the table but, several more folks stopped by during the afternoon. As usual the “brined” turkey turned out moist and tender. I cooked it in the counter top roaster to free up the ovens for other goodies. I used some large tongs to remove the turkey from the roaster and the entire breast came out by itself. I popped the breast bone out an carving was easy.

It was a great gathering.

Looking ... sorry about your cat.

Kyle ... Cupcakes sound good.

RNG ... in Texas, ribs are a perfectly acceptable substitute for turkey!

WNG ... it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving ... without a little drama. Seems you got more than your fair share though. Sorry about Coco.

Great info on woodpeckers. I hear them all the time here.

I’m pleased with the SYNC navigation system on our new F-350 KR. On our previous trucks you had to type any new address in so it required you being stopped. Now you can just “say the address” while going down the road. So far ... it’s been very accurate. It also will read text messages to you.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Prayers to all.

"... As usual the “brined” turkey turned out moist and tender."- Rick. I agree. If I can I'll buy an unbrined turkey and do my own brining. I am happy to read that everything worked out having +10 guests.

We eat turkey all the time. Lamb really works for us on Thanksgiving, and freshly made cranberry relish goes well with lamb.

We are hooking up with my Sister and Niece for dinner tonight at a really decent restaurant that's midpoint distance-wise. It's a pretty drive.

Very interesting weather ahead for the NE/MA CONUS starting Sunday into Monday and maybe Tuesday as well. Weather models are all over the place as to snow/icing accumulations.

Bird, on my Ford sync-3 the phone can plug into the NAV and appears on the large screen NAV through "Apple Car Play" and the adjustable voice comes over the car speakers really clear and loud. At the same time the phone is charging. Do you have a USB port?

Yes, Don, I have a USB port that's never been used. I suppose I ought to try what you said, but not sure I want to mess with it. What's "Apple Car Plan"?

Even with a fresh, free update, Eric, my Garmin has tried to send me down a boat ramp, up someone's driveway, to the top of a mountain so I could use the cul-de-sac there to turn around, to someone's house that it thought was a BBQ restaurant, through a dry wash to get back to the main highway, and has many times told me the place where I was going was on the right, when in reality it was on the left (or vice versa). And I always turn the voice off when using a GPS or phone based navigation. I don't like being nagged.

Wow, I used Garmin for years before using the factory navigation systems, other than once it didn稚 know that the two ends of a street in Chincoteague, VA were not connected, I never had any such issues, as long as I kept them updated.

I have had similar problems with my Garmin’s over the years. But none of them caused a major problem. One took me on back dirt roads. It was a short cut to my destination. Good thing I had a AWD truck.

Home sweet home.
Easy 5 1/2 hour drive back at 6 over. I could knock a half hour off that, and have many times, but not this time.
Perhaps because I was still full of yummy brined turkey my SIL did a wonderful job on.
I can only imagine how much sodium I ate yesterday but I sure went back for seconds. And then had to wait four hours to have the apple pie,
was too full. Nice visit with older brother, his wife and their 45 year old son. Son promptly disappeared to watch a run of football games while the rest of us
took a nap. We had walked earlier, and the wind was ferocious. Truly howling winds down off the mountain, pretty sure out of the North. A tornado missed his home by about half a mile several months before, did a lot of damage to his trees, huge bill from Bartlett, hit about 5pm on the road SIL was trying to get to to get home. Road blocked by lots of trees, even now it looks like a war zone on this little wooded country road, with half the trees ripped up or broken off. The power that did that is worrisome, and thankfully had passed when SIL finally got home, saved by her son who drove 4x4 over neighboring farmers cattle meadows to get to his Mother, bringing her home successfully.
Tornadoes are bad, bad news. One missed my home ten years ago, before I was here, by about five miles. Blew a whole bunch of singlewides down in a small community and my home got a new roof. I hope to not be there if that ever happens again.

The area around my brothers place used to be a very large apple orchard industry, but now it's all wineries. The wine region of Virginia or some such. Lot of very wealthy people planting vines so they can dream of Tuscany on their last vacation and get a nice tax write off on their expensive property tax bill. My brother shakes his head at some of the signs, they are popping up like weeds, brings all kinds of unwanted traffic down a small windy country road. I thought they were all nicely done but kept my mouth shut.
One of the places we passed was a "world famous" bakery, who made the apple pie for our dinner, and which I was sent home with a quarter of. Oh happy days...

Accident pic was one on the way up. Traffic stopped and someone didn't, taking out other cars too. Trip back was calm, less traffic than normal and no accidents.
Yeah. Though I'm still vibrating in a way...doing 75 in heavy but moving traffic is not for relaxing at all. You don't pay attention and you are the next guy in a bad accident.
I don't thing I've ever seen two upside down cars in separate accidents in one day before.

Glad most had wonderful Thanksgivings, time to meet with family.
Bill, sorry about your cat. That has to be hard, even if expected.
Billy, wow, very sorry Coco was hurt, wonder if other dog felt threatened or was just aggressive. Too bad they can't talk.
Though they sure can send signals, like bare teeth and raised fur. At least you were a real hero getting the dinner cooked.
one you'll remember. Hope she heals quickly.
RNG, feel better, sorry you got the crud, good of you not to expose others. Bad enough with all the lettuce...
David, nice hutch, looks like a fun party in Paradise.

I was welcomed home by a local combine in the field getting the last of the soybeans in.

lot to catch up with. I have a choice of a nap or blowing the leaves off the driveway. Probably should do both and the leaves come first.

Left over an hr ago. So far stopped at 2 mcDs for coffee for my son, and their machines were down. Now in a long Starbucks line. And a long way to go.
Walked to top of the hill this morning.
