I think youæ±*e overthinking the whole process. With an 8k container and a 20k trailer just get a pre cast concrete block or something else heavy and put on the front. The huge tailswing would be my biggest concern then. Every time I use my dads prodigy 3 controller it leaves me wanting to throw it out the window. The prodigy 2 is much better IMO.

I think your right. I am just trying to cover all my bases. I have plenty of stuff to add for weight. What do you not like about the P3? I'm assuming it's just too confusing. From what I understand the P2 and p3 work exactly the same minus the display complexity.

The p2 adjust with a rolling wheel and I can very quickly adjust to the power level I want. The other one adjust with buttons and it’s a lot slower to do. And then I’m usually driving when I’m screwing with it so the added complexity isn’t a bonus. My trailer braking method consist of hitting the truck brakes and then rolling the brakes up to the desired effectiveness and then forgetting when I unloaded and sliding the trailer so speed of adjustment is important to me.

I used to pick up and deliver 20' and 40' containers with a KW semi and a 48' Landoll. The Landoll had a drop deck.
It was about 20 years ago so I don't remember the measurements but I had about 10' overhang and cross chained from the bottom pockets.
I loaded with a Packer at the yard but would just pull out from under or drag them on the lowered deck with trailer winch in the field.
Empty 20' is 5000 lb (ballpark) and 40' is 10,000 lb (ballpark).
What type of hitch do you have? For that kind of weight you should be using a Pintle Hitch.

As has been said, that is a LOT of tail swing. While you are wiring in lights in the back, put in a receptacle so you can run more lights and put a set of lights at the back of the container, it will more visible and might keep you from getting a ticket with this contraption.
As for tongue weight, I would set an IBC tote in the nose of the container and fill it with water. That way you will have plenty of tongue weight.

I hope Loonshotfarm reports back on how the move of the 1st container goes. I had no real-world advice for this query except “Be Careful!”

He has a video of his container on the trailer and with him placing it back on post #11. Seems to me he handled it very well.

Thanks for the info. I will have about 16' behind the center of the axles. There are many commercially made trailers that have a 10' hydraulic dovetail with the axles just in front of the hinge(same as my setup), I will only be 4' longer than that and only when hauling the containers. I figure I either have to worry about cutting the curb, or tail-swing, either way you have to be driving with intention. Hitch is a 10t pintle bolted with grade 8 hardware to the hitch plate on the truck.

IBC tote is a great idea and I have a bunch of them. I will likely put in a receptacle as you said, I have a set of mag lights so might as well use them too..
