Looking for opinions on selling my tractor with front-end loader. Local Deere dealer, who knows my machine well, recommends I ask $10,000 for it.

I've done a lot of business on ebay over the years, so I tend to lean that way, but back when I was a buyer I used tractorhouse.com. Then there's always Craigslist.

Opinions? Experiences? New machine due here in 10 days, and we're currently in our first "winter storm", which always gets the slackers out shopping. So it's prime time time to get moving on posting the old one somewhere.

I sold my Kioti CK30H on CL a few months ago. I had been studying the other listings a few weeks. I noticed that many were pretty barebones. I took the opposite approach. This was a good tractor. I knew it. A potential buyer should as well.
I included pics from all angles.

Pics of extra filters I was including.
My description was honest.
I pretty much anticipated and answered any questions in the ad even why I was selling.

Yea, maybe I went overboard. Sure took some time and organization. Published ad on Sunday, Buyer picked it up full price on Wed.

Some of the other CL listings were still there at least 2 weeks ago.

I would try CL local first. If you are going to try to sell on eBay folks are going to want you to arrange shipping.

I got nothing but flakes, wierdos and lowballers when I tried selling a tractor on CL. Lots of lowballers. It was worse than useless. I took the time to write a good ad and post good pictures. It didn't matter. It's worth a try, maybe CL is better where you are. You can always cancel the ad if it's not. I would not post my phone number though.

You could also try selling it here on TBN.https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/tractors-sale/
Granted you won't get the exposure that the sites you mention will give, but all that you have to lose is your time.

I sold my last Kubota on Craigslist, it took a couple of months but I kept lowering the price as I was trying to get as much as I could for it. For some reason I didn't get the whack jobs which usually come out the wood work when I list something there.

I too get the flakes and lowballers when I use CL. I notice now they charge a few bucks for certain items. I just sold my camper on "Wastebook" Marketplace. Not a great time of the year to sell a camper yet according to FB I had about 1000+ views in the few weeks I had it listed. A few weeks ago I found a young guy to haul some rock to my property via Marketplace. You'll get tire kickers and lowballers too on Marketplace but I've had more luck lately selling on FB.

I wouldn’t use eBay because they’ll hit you with fees plus PayPal fees. My first choice would be Marketplace and if that didn’t work maybe a more equipment oriented site.

I agree 100%. eBay is up to a 10% seller fee now or something like that? Plus 3% PayPal if you use that.

I sold a friends tractor on FB marketplace last year, had it listed there and CL, but only spammers replied to the CL ad.

It has been many years since I tried to sell something on Craigslist. I got all the screwballs and low life's that CL can be famous for. This was back when we still lived in Phoenix. I had one guy low ball the crap out of me and get real snarky with me over messages. I finally told him to take a hike. 10 minutes later my ad was "flagged", and I'm sure it was this same guy, and he "flagged" my ad any time I posted it again. Within minutes of me posting the ad, it was anonymously "flagged" again.

I took the ad down and sold it privately. About 2 weeks later I get another message from Mr. Snarky, wanting to know if he could now buy my item, for even LESS money than his original low ball offer. Wished I could have seen his face when I told him it sold, for my asking price, so I guess your plan of keeping my ad flagged didn't work, eh? Total silence for way too long on his end. Then "click".

I would either see if the local dealer would sell it on consignment, or take it to an auction.

I would avoid the cesspool that is Craigslist altogether, but that is just me I guess.

I've sold a bunch of stuff on Craigslist, but as far as I can recall, never an item over $500. I've sold a lot more on ebay, though.

It's the amount that had me leaning toward ebay, as I haven't heard of many having the same issues with ebay as with Clist.

By the way, the fee on ebay is not 10% on tractors, it's actually capped at $250 maximum for that category, as far as I know. If I get the anticipated price, that's 2.5%.

No local dealers do consignment, of which I'm aware. If one did, and their fee wasn't insane, I'd consider going that way.
