Yes, I know, the piranha tooth bar is the cat's meow per all accounts. I need some input regarding a particular application, clearing tall thick grass and cattails, how's it with that? Specifically, does it cut through that stuff or just grab it and pull it out by the root?

I have a ratchet rake which is great for pulling everything out by the roots, but am looking for more or less knocking that stuff down without necessarily yanking it all out. I have a bunch of wetland I wanna plant trees in next spring, but don't wanna leave everything bare around them, and then having to reseed and so forth.

The cattails will probably cut off okay but the grass not so much, unless it is fairly stiff, otherwise it most likely will just push over. I do love my piranha .

Kinda all 3, cut,rip and pull when I did the 32foot x 45foot area I still needed to go over it with my teeth on the box blade to rip ot roots that were left behind.

Hey Jim, yeh I seen you post that before. That second pic looks promising for my purposes.

Here's what I'm gonna be dealing with:

I knocked all this down last time with a walk-behind brush hog I rented. You can't see it, but around 8 ft into that jungle is a wire fence I put up, that's also when I planted the trees in there.

That be cool by me, actually. I could mow through the grass with a few passes after that.

Different applications, different results, I guess. My Piranha doesn't cut anything. It just pushes it. Sometimes that rips bushes out by the roots, sometimes it just pushes them over.

If I want to clear to bare earth, it is great. But it doesn't act like a lawn mower in any way. For me.
