....on a related note: has an official measurement been established for that smallest of distances that's known as the " **nt-hair" ?

...and given recent trends in personal grooming, does it even exist anymore? :confused3:
:stirthepot:
:D

Navy measurements included the "**nt hair" (estimation as colour could be added or subtracted) or the more accurate "bee's dick".

I have never forgotten those units of measure!

But those hairs are in really short supply these days.

("The international foot is the smaller one — adding about an eighth of an inch of difference when measuring a mile. That means the United States is 28.3 feet wider when measured using the international foot instead of the survey foot.")

Did anyone claim that extra 28 feet yet, wonder if it's near me...........

I just wish the US would just pick one already, metric or standard, tied of two sets of wrenches, but I did get use to the metric hammer.

The best tape measure I have is the one that is self centering, a regular tape I have, I have to do the math, I do alright finding center of 4" but when you get them little lines in-between the big lines, well then it's mostly guess work with constantly making new lines then forget which line is the right line.......................................................

There are some other very nice metric things also.
The metric screwdriver
The metric pliers
The metric desert, and dinner plates
Lots more!

Wish we would switch to the metric week already, ten days would be perfect !

I just had a carpenter on a job from the Ukraine. He just couldn't understand why the prints called out for a 1x10 and yet it measured 3/4 x 9 1/4...

Ukraine. It will probably will show up as another article for impeachment by the crazy left. Makes about as much sense as the other articles served up. Sorry, I digress.

^^^
Careful.
I just got another thread shut down or moved, for a similar comment which then turned in the wrong direction.

The metric system is by far better. But terrible having both. And is the 2x4 or 4x8 sheet ever going to disappear?

Love that 1000 KG is one metric ton. And a cubic meter of water weighs one metric ton. 1000 litres at kg each is a metric ton. So easy to calculate.

I do despise metric when all my wrench sets seem to miss some inbetween size that I keep coming across.
