What do you do with your Instant Pot you cant do with a crock pot?

I use the crock pot more at cold times of the year, so the heat goes into the house.

But the question is, can these Instant Pots actually be put to good use? It's the holiday season after all. Can you put a copper coil on there and make your Holiday Hooch?

Always wanted to buy a pressure cooker and make my own.

Our Instant Pot has become our new "Go To" for cooking just about everything now. Today, a nice butternut squash soup will be made and tomorrow a nice Beef Pot Roast, straight out of the freezer. Try that with a crock pot!

On the pot roast, is there an advantage to go direct from freezer to instapot? I always thaw my meat out in the refrigerator a day, two or three in the refrigerator depending on the size. I figure it saves energy by cooling the fridge in the meantime. That said, I could see it handy if plans changed or I simply forgot to prepare.

I would imagine the only time using frozen meat would be when we forget to defrost. We keep our refrigerator super cold (for beer) and it can take 3 or 4 days to defrost anything. Now, we are drooling waiting on the New Year and the traditional meal of Lentil soup.:licking:

Fish usually defrosts in a day in my fridge, a 1lb package of hamburger in 2 days, a chicken or roast in 3 which is about as far out as I go. Anything larger like a ham goes the 3 days then onto the granite countertop which is amazingly good at pulling the cold out of the meat. I keep moving it around to get to a warmer part of the counter and rotating it top/bottom/side every time I go in the kitchen.

Alone here this weekend. A roast sure would have been nice to look forward to at days end after moving snow.

Lentils and Split Pea soup are an acquired taste. Kids usually hate both, if forced to eat it. With enough ham hocks and onions I could enjoy eating cardboard.

I don't know Doofy . . . I have always loved homemade Lentil or Split pea soup . . . :licking:
