Parbuckling is only good for use on open ground, but original question was aimed at how does one get downed trees out of restrictive areas to an area where some of the procedures mention (requiring space) can be applied...

Yes, it's called parbuckling. There are a couple of threads on here about it.

Here's a couple descriptions of another method which uses a hinged arch across the back of the trailer:

This one shows a few pictures in action: Moving Logs

This is a longer thread with some build details: DanG-DeadHeader Log Lifter

I do not own one of these, but have seen one in use a few times. It worked well, requires only minimal modifications to the trailer, and was an inexpensive method of loading logs, especially if you already own a winch.

Woodmizer, and probably other sawmill manufacturers offer that as an option on some of their mills. The "kit" includes square tubing with cleats on it to roll the logs up; as well as a boat trailer style hand winch to do the work.

Not so........... I use to take my atv with trailer right in the woods, very rough woods with trees all around, I drive up next to log then roll it on. Theres very few place a ATV will not fit or go, with a winch on front and back I could haul log out of some very gnarly places, places where my tractor cant get out of. Your just aware of how good parbucklng is and or where it can be used and or how big a log can be loaded, I easily loaded 16'-6x 16" top end on my trailer and unloading is just as easy, all with just a boat winch.

Please explain to me how I can get parbuckling rig in close to remove tree in picture... Yes it's the "Y" shaped one in center of pic... It's oak its very dead and there is no safe ground to use chainsaw to cut from.... And there is a creek about 3 feet behind where pic was taken from so it precludes getting a tractor Jeep with winch in there....

And you could find a picture of a thousand trees that it could work on.

You will find many MANY more times that it will work for even one that it doesn't!

What about that place where the red lines are, looks like my ATV trailer would fit there nicely..........
InkedSDC10012-2_LI.jpg

All I need to do is winch those trees to that spot where the red lines are, then I would parbuckle them on my ATV trailer, a 5'x 8' spot for my ATV trailer is all I need, you mean to tell me you dont have 5'x 8' flat spot near any trees............ I have places like that here that's why I had a winch on my ATV, I could easily winch a 12"x 8' log, but a small tractor would work better to drag trees to a flat place and that is all there is to it.

Most small tractors I see could easily handle my ATV trailer, I have a couple of these old pictures, just cant find a picture where I have my parbuckling set up on it, this trailer is 4' wide, 7-1/2' long and it can fit in a very small place.

I now use a Rhino to pull my ATV trailer and load with tractor, parbuckling takes very little room. Rhino with trailer - YouTube

I don't remember if the question has been asked or answered: but what do you plan to do with the wood afterwards? If you are going to just burn or landfill it, you might find it easier to make a path and haul the wood in a trailer.

Because there is no way to get a trailer in there and the depth perception of camera is poor as tree is almost 75-80 feet from you marked location....

So far only solution seems to be having tree professionally dropped (risk factor because of area around tree trunk) and the cut to fireplace length and hand packed out....
