Price Check Kubota L2501 (2017)

In the market for a Kubota tractor to have around the house and have found one locally that is a L2501 (purchased in 2017) with just over 100 hours on the clock. Second owner who has put about 10 hours on it. Has some premature wear on the floorboard and some diesel residue on the hood and loader (would wipe off easily). Comes with a Land Pride RB1684 rear blade. Owner is asking $16,500, fair?

Thanks for the input guys. New here in MT, cash price, for the tractor with quick attache loader is $20,600 delivered (I'm about 40 miles from the dealer).

Given the prices you are dealing with, if the used one is mechanically in about perfect condition I would probably go with it. If I'm reading it right it'll save you $4,100..... what about sales tax? There would likely be an additional what $1,200 sales tax on a new tractor? Then there's the nice LP rear blade as well.

So what did the OP end up doing? Did they buy the tractor or not?

The floor paint seems normal for an operator on an off the machine quite a bit. Mine is about the same at 170 hrs. The soot is the same if the machine has never been washed. I clean the soot off of my loader on occasion, but if I left it, it would look like that.

As mentioned before, 2 owners is a bit odd, but may not be the machine they needed. I'd have the dealer run the serial number for you, just to make sure there is no lien or worse. Then haggle a bit.

Again, thanks for all the input. I have to admit, with a lot of angst we went ahead and purchased the tractor. We had a mechanic from one of the local dealers check it out and he gave it a thumbs up. Like mentioned above it did clean up nicely. I'm a bit envious of my brother-in-law who just plopped $28K down on a L3901, but I wanted my purchase to start with a 1.

A barely broken in L for the price of a BX! Looks perfect in that picture and what a great home it finally has!

I don’t think the floor board or soot on the loader is that out of the ordinary. If you came close to stalling the engine a lot which you probably would that low HP one the loader would get smoked up pretty quick and the floor pans in those wear quickly.

I agree. That's not unusual for loader arm soot and floor pan wear at 100 hrs. It's interesting that all it would take for Kubota to fix both issues - and make their customers much happier - would be to offer an upright exhaust and add rubber floor mats. Thirty years ago both were common.

And if a company really wanted to go crazy they could even offer a tarp made to fit for open station tractors that live outside.

Of course there's nothing to prevent an owner from doing any of that....

I’m personally not a fan of upright stacks. Besides it’s already been “fixed” on new tractor. And the Grand tractors do have a rubber floor mat.
