Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 54F and raining @ 5:30AM. Showers early, then partly cloudy for the afternoon. High 58F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Another caution about wood chips: Crews in the Camp Fire zone used wood chippers to process tons and tons of wood debris left by the fire, creating huge chip piles as a result. Several of these piles spontaneously combusted last summer, and fortunately all were extinguished before they got out of hand.

Got a new front tire ordered for the touring bike yesterday, and put together a list of maintenance chores that need to be completed before the next trip in February. I'll be in touch with the windshield manufacturer on Monday; they've been on holiday break since 12/23/2019.

Got through the mail piles, USPS and electronic, yesterday as well. Found a note from the building department expressing concern that the solar panel array may be impinging on the septic leach field. They included a rough drawing of the leach field, one I hadn't seen before, even though I'd requested copies of their records before I purchased this place ten years ago. Made a few changes to the site plan to move the electrical trench and array locations, and resubmitted it, asking for confirmation of receipt via email. No confirmation yet, so I'll have to call them as well on Monday.:confused2:

Also found a letter from the local electrical utility notifying me of a planned power outage between midnight last night and 2AM. I didn't hear the power go off last night, but did hear various devices making a racket when it came back on at around 2:30AM. And as usual, the Philips Hue lamps came on at their most recent brightness level, which was not zero, so I had to get up and turn them off, again. I have a home automation script that runs every day at midnight, and it turns off all the lights, the HVAC, and all the other "smart" devices, but I should spend the time to figure out how to detect electrical power restorations and trigger that same script.

More catching up to do today.

Hope everyone's weekend gets off to a great start!

Yes, especially if they have a lot of green leaves in them. The mulch I was moving yesterday in the garden is piled high and when I got a scoop steam was rising so heat is still being generated. In the FireWise there are no piles the wood chips are spread out.

Full recovery is hard to judge, I知 going to cardio rehab starting February. At local hospital and judged one oh these programs in the country, so I hope to regain a lot of lost muscle tone. I知 doing things I could only dream of a month ago though.

You are moooving right along with your recovery. This is a good thing.

Good morning to all!
Low went down to 25, going up to 48 today, 50 tomorrow. No precipitation is forecasted until next Wednesday. High winds expected tomorrow afternoon, that will ruin the nice temps for any outside stuff!

Today will be the day to take down the Christmas lights... at least they come down faster than going up.... at least I think so....

Need to do some maintenance on the tractor, getting it all greased takes a while. Seems like I find more zerks every time I do it. The manuals are no help in locating them.

Our fire wise recommendations also state to mulch 20-25 foot areas around buildings. Mulch will smolder, but it slows down the advancing flames, providing a “ defendable “ space. When I was with the Fire Dept, there were protocols describing defendable vs non-defendable space for brush fires... the orders were to drive past those structures that had brush and clutter close to the building... move on to the next one that was clear. I have seen this plan implemented.....

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent

My FIL did cardio rehab and his wife and daughter said it made a big improvement.

51° going to high of 55 before a gradual drop.

Buppies, rain and wind won’t be good for break heart orchards house build.

Wife had pellet stove running again last night, but just turned it off.

I found a Hungarian goulash recipe yesterday that I want to try in IP. So I picked up ingredients on way home from work.

Son is going to fix waffles for lunch, so I just had a banana for breakfast.

Decided not to go to dads. Didn’t feel up to long trip today and back tomorrow. They might get snow there tonight.

Nothing much else planned for today.

A foggy, drizzly, rain showery 35ºF for today’s low temperature; 38ºF presents with unchanged conditions; and I anticipate more of the same with the afternoon high in the mid to high 30ºF’s and all this moisture changing over to snow tonight into tomorrow with little to no accumulation.

Despite all the TV ProMet hype on warm temperatures and melting ice and snow it is not happening around here other than the ice is now off the trees. Footing and driving on*non treated non- managed*roads and ground surfaces is still treacherous. *My parked truck*decided to do a little sliding downslope on its own this AM in a driveway.

“Yep, I am teet-ering on the brink of greatness!”- Randy I am happy to read about your ongoing improvements and hope the +’s continue.

I lost a windshield wiper yesterday due to ice sliding off the roof = an unexpected trip to the Big City to replace the wipers. Actually both needed replacing.

Dump run completed I have no real plans for today other than bird counting and keeping the wood stove fed. I really am not that interesting in slipping and sliding around outside today.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Saturday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Energy conservation and watch football this afternoon

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I’d like the goulash recipe, mine is a little bland, not enough stuff in it for me.

We got the warmer weather here, most places the snow and ice are gone.
Some of the shaded areas and north facing slopes still have a bit and many of the plow piles are still here.
Most of the ground is thawed or semi thawed, a sloppy muddy mess.
I would prefer that it stay a bit colder and froze up or sunny and dry it out.
Our dirt roads are getting rutted and throwing mud all over the vehicles,
the field roads rutted, rough and hard on tires and equipment, feed lots are muddy and sloppy,
rough pock marked and hard for the cows to walk in, wet sloppy weather is rough on cows.
Foggy out here at noon today visibility only a couple of hundred feet, and a drizzly rain at 36F.

Best wishs to all for the New Year ahead.

Lou, you sound like a commercial for Tide detergent...;) Best wishes to you too.

spent four hours this morning cleaning up stored files, got about halfway done and left a big pile in office I have to clean up soon.
Decided to burn my confidential files, so on the burnpile they went and after things dry tomorrow, intend to add some significant accelerant
to burn the boxes of paper, otherwise it's too wet outside. Need the proper mix of motor oil and a very small amount of gasoline to get things moving.
Lot of cleaning up late wife's medical files, that was pretty depressing, including the pathology report saying she was clear of disease.
That sure wasn't the case. Tons of office files to burn up, now ten years plus since I retired.
Because I had a broker's license lot of rules to abide by, long retention periods, but that's all gone now.
One pile for the burn pile, one pile for GoodWill and one pile for dump.

Now for a rest. Gale warnings up for tonight but maybe end of rain.

It's been a foggy, rain showery 38ºF here since midmorning. Not the "prettiest" Winter day outside today. Our driveway is not a very pretty sight with all the spread wood ashes and it is still slippery with the rain.

Drew- You earned some R&R today.

   / Good morning!!!! #104,518
I had a great deal of paper records to destroy a few years ago, Drew. I called several shredding companies, and none of them would let me watch while my documents were destroyed. I ended up feeding them to the camp fire ring in the back yard, a few sheets at a time, after the burn bans were lifted and the rain had a chance to wet things down and protect them from drifting ashes. It's time to go through those old files again, and round up another year or two of records to be destroyed. That should be good for an evening or two by the camp fire ring again...

Noooo!

Please don’t use gasoline Drew! The vapors you can’t see ... are what will get you. Just use a bit of diesel fuel instead.
