I believe the Muslims believe in an eye for any eye, often interpreted very literally. Saw a movie on Leftlicks last night about drug activity. Guy who crossed his bosses was tied up and a high ring of wooden skids placed around him in a circle were set on fire. I think that might work for this crime too.

And what does this have to do with our friends in Australia fighting fires?

Let's not get absolutely stupid and close this thread.

My brother lives in Kelowna, B.C. and a few years ago they had a lot of fires in his area and it is known that many were started by an arsonist or several. It's always dry there so it doesn't take much for them to get out of hand. But I love how right away all the global warming/climate change believers get on their left wing nut job news and figure they have it all figured out. Last year they thought it was going to be an absolutely insane year for bush fires across Western and Northern Canada and despite a few big fires in Northwestern Alberta it really wasn't bad. Here in Manitoba where I have spent more than a few years as a Volunteer Firefighter our biggest arsonists are farmers and city people that move out in the country. One of these years though we'll get some big fires as the Province of Manitoba doesn't do any prescribed burning what so ever and the dead fall and sickly forests are accumulating.....

in the middle but not around the edge especiaaly on the east, lightning is common throughout the heaviy forested high country known as the great dividing range which runs from queensland through to south australia, the desert is in the middle bits, we even have snow and ski resorts, notjust bush and blowflies.
storm fronts follow these ranges which accounts fot the fire front.
It is a long walk with the zippo to stat a fire in such remote areas/

Thank you. I've done some over lays on the stat maps and what you say makes perfect sense. It just looked to organized to me, not knowing the terrain, to be a normal distribution.

The media have a lot to answer for portraying us as desert dwellers, we get questions about the deadly Birdsville track, the number of people who break down and are nhot found for weeks, maybe back in the 40's but it is now bitumen and like a freeway with more tourist buses than you could have imagined existed.
Rumour has it we may even get traffic lights soon;)
