It was good to read in the link above about your desire to make less CO2.

You mean the Newcomen system was the ultimate design. You show a lack of reading comprehension. My degree of understanding is always in question as I don’t know everything just as you do not know everything.

The mechanical systems used fossils, nuclear or rankin cycle are always open to improvement. How does a Newcomen boiler compare to a modern water tube boiler with superheaters and all the other efficiency increasing improvements??

For those interested in EV's and the self driving future this is a long article that kind of goes company by company covering their strong and weak points.

It is not hard to see that China may be the major winner world wide when it comes to EV's and self driving vehicles. I did not know China now owns 10% of Mercedes Benz. Recently Musk said they could not do autonomous driving without China producing the technology because there is no place in the US that can make that can manufacture that part.

Things are moving forward to fast too keep up with just reading wise so it much be impossible for some of the old players who use to set their own pace. Some may be shooting off the back of the treadmill they invented 100 years ago.

No one gets an ideal Rankine (note spelling) cycle. Lots of time and effort is spent on turbines to improve efficiency. Real world processes are not isentropic.

Parked next to a dual motor Tesla model 3. It was nice but much lower than our Leaf. Being in F 150 made it look lower too. Thinking of a used Y in 4 years.

Tesla needs to build a Subaru Outback. Am not convinced the Model Y will be anything other than a California Metrosexual Designer’s concept for visiting parks on paved roads. Outback isn’t a rock climber but works well enough driving across fields. I’ve had mine in surprising places, and found places I would not go but barely blinked on dirtbike. Place I took a deep breath before traversing in SxS.

Exactly. my '99 Outback has been my 'farm truck', often pulling the light 4x8 trailer, for two decades now. It's not quite up to what the Trooper could do but its sufficient. Photo. Photo2.

I'm hoping to replace it with a Model Y. And I hope Model Y has at least 3,500 lbs tow rating.

Agree on the Y being a bit more like an Outback would have been nice, when the unveil took place it was hard to see much difference in the Model 3- although there was a recent video that showed that the Model Y should have an extra 4-5 inches of seating height.


Model Y deliveries expected to begin within a month... maybe even before February.
