Why not name the bottler and brands?

Other manufacturers do spec synthetics.

We use SuperTech as fill between changes, and in small engines. As temps in NH can go below -20ー F. We use synthetics for everything.

The blender was a company named Delta Petroleum (in New Orleans). This was in the early 2000痴. The brands were Havoline, Sinclair, Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol, and some off brands I wasn稚 familiar with. It really struck a chord with me because my favorite oil had always been Castrol because of the cool commercials they had when I was in high school! I always thought that oil was 鍍he best, but it was just the marketing that got me! And then to find out it was the identical product in each bottle!!?? Taught me some cool lessons!

Since oil the oils in that Blackstone comparison came out the same, I'd say that we should all be using as low a vis oil as we can buy. Gives same protection and will provide more protection in cold weather starts and lower fuel consumption. This, Blackstone did not check, but I've seen videos of cold weather starts done by our research people where some oils would obviously cause catastrophic damage in cold weather starts because the upper valve train was actually smoking.

I wasn't aware of the Walmart oils. Just had not noticed them. Looks like they have the same vis ranges as other oils (of course, they just buy from lowest bidder, probably).

Warren makes super tech and is a pretty good oil as anybody who reads BITOG can tell you. Many oils from big companies are no better but cost more. Highlift cams w flat bucket shims and super strong valve springs and NEW engine, it wouldn't be the first time a cam got ground down if you don't know what you're doing.
You need high zddp levels to start with and most add on oil additives are junk. And don't overdue your cams or springs or they won't make more than a couple of runs.
Unless u were hi-up in the company, I don't think theres a def. answer.??
BUT I DO HAVE a funny story.. I was watching an old Gas Monkey Garage re-run & they were "breaking in" a freshly rebuilt engine that WASNT ran/run on a dyno..
You can clearly see them pouring Super Tech oil in the engine.. 5 minutes later the engine started knocking & idling like it was running on 3 cylinders..
They pulled it down & found the cam shaft had eaten itself.. along w/ the tappets..
What they concluded was> they were "supposed to" run it w/ a special break-in oil.. but instead.. they used WM oil & ADDED a break-in substitute.
After the 2nd rebuild, it clearly shows them pouring in "Royal Purple" break in oil.. lol

You'd be wrong. Bitog has a high opinion of ST oils.
if you are asking is the supertech synthetic is as good as Moible one synthetic, Amsoil, rotella T6, etc,.
The answer is no. There is a reason it cost less.

Go to the website bob is the oil guy. Many people will have a VOA performed on oils and post the results.
I can assure you that supertech synthetic won't stand up to the major brand synthetic specs

This pretty much sums it up, a good oil for less$$$$$, I'll take it!
Now I would agree with that. Worth what you pay for it. I think so. As long as a person doesn't expect it to be equal to the major manufactures' top of the line oils.

The O.P. merely asked if Walmart's SuperTech oils were worth it, not how it compares with major brand oils. Some people just get carried away trying to make comparisons that weren't asked for. While it may be not as good, is the best really necessary in all cases?

all i use is supertech for prolly 15 years at this point and i don't use synthetic. rolling up on 168k on a sentra with no issues. I'm pretty much not switching at this point, don't see any reason too.
