To secure my tails I use a bungee setup with a little ball attached. They are short, just a few inches long and I often see them used for putting up tarps for an temporary awning setup.
I use the heavy duty rubber bands from Staples (only Staples has them heavy duty enough) to control the tails. Roll up the ends, put the rubber band around them a few times and put it around the ratchet handle. They only last a week in the sun though so they're a consumable.
It seems rubber bands only last six months nowadays. It's weird, but the heavy ones used to tie up Vegetables are of much higher quality.
Why don稚 you just roll them up and tie them back on themselves. By far the easiest and
least wasteful option. If for some reason that won稚 work I値l also use the loop bungies
With the ball catch.

Maybe it's where I live, but I see bungie cords and ratchet straps all the time. I got both my 'logging' chains found on the roadside for free.I'm always watching for stuff lying on the roadways. Funny, I see a pile of rubber bunjie cords, but don't ever recall seeing any straps or ratchets.
I wish ratchet straps were easier to unwind. Like a place to employ a large screwdriver or socket.
