First tractor purchase

What kind of soil is this? If it is clay the bucket spade won't be worth a crap and you should probably invest at least in a PHD. I think 25hp would be fine for mowing old pasture with small saplings (less than 1") I would try to remove all saplings as it would make for easier mowing and less likely for a flat. You're cutting trails mostly by hand so the tractor would only need to push brush which could be done with something small. The full frame 25hp tractors will suit you from the info you've given. You didn't say you were working the land so you really shouldn't need a big heavy machine.

Are you planning on pulling double duty and using this as a lawn mower as well? If so I would be looking into something with a Mid PTO.

Welcome to TBN fellow Jeeper.

What I am about to offer is based on this statement you made at the end of post #1 in this thread.

Thanks in advance for help and note I am on a budget because the more I spend on the tractor the longer I'll want to delay the construction of the house.

I am assuming you are working on your first country property? Building your first new house?

If so, there's no way I would financially delay a house to buy a tractor. No way.

You don't need a $25K tractor to do the things you want to do. Actually some of the tractors talked about so far will cost more than $25K.

A $5K 2wheel drive tractor without FEL will do it all. It won't be fancy or impress the neighbors and friends. But it will be paid for and yours. You will learn how to get the most out of it. Check out the haired over back lots of every machinery dealer you can find to buy the attachments you need. Basically an old brush cutter and rear blade.

Go as cheap as you can possibly go. Build your house. Get yourself financially settled. Then some years down the road upgrade the tractor as you can afford to.

Again, welcome to TBN.

Really some job opportunities and other things are my reasoning for delaying starting construction. I try to be very careful when it comes to money and just put that out there so people understood there was a budget before everyone said go big and get a Grand L. I think 2 wheel drive limit me to much with the terrain so I want at least 4 wheel drive, FEL, and 25hp. So far in the used market I haven't found much of anything under 15k that meets those requirements that looks in good shapre but I haven't given up on used yet. Shoot yesterday I saw one for 10K that had a whole page of repairs that it needed and even said it probably needed more in the listing. I don't want to buy someone else problem or have to rebuy after only a few years.

This is by far the best looking thing I've seen but about 2.5hr drive and I have no trailer to haul it on.

Other option is these B3350 left over from 2017. From my reading these have terrible regen issues and even at that price should be avoided?

Soil is probably clay with rocks mixed in but around here the soil can be completely different even between sides of a street. Once the final paper work on the land is complete which should be any day now I'll probably take a shovel over and try to dig a test hole to see how bad it is. I know at my current house even digging a 12inch hole for a plant can take 30mins because of how hard the ground can be.

Everyone seems to say don't bother using a tractor as a lawn mower so current thought is to keep my riding mower for the grass that will be around the house. The thought of one machine instead of two is appealing but seems like everyone says its not worth it.

Then by all means go to your favorite dealer and sign on the dotted line. It's very easy to do. :D
