Been about a year since I lost my Coop. Still miss him dearly. May have been one of hardest things I've done in my life....

But lots of great memories and hunts. Best dog in the world. ( but ain't they all )

It was funnier trying to watch him pick the bone up off the floor to play with to begin with, which made me get my phone to take a quick pick. Still wants to play, even with the cone of shame LOL

Mine figured out how to drink with a cone, it was a bit funny to watch. I would come home on a hot day and he would be laying with his face to the fan, which I had bought to put on the floor for him.

Our Doberman had a small surgery a few months ago. My wife put o e of those neck things on him that you would wear on a airplane instead of the cone of shame... it worked really well

I have, but it's been many years ago. I worked for Furr's Super markets in those days; used to go to a place called The Hitchin' Post on Saturday nights, located on West Central, across the river. Glenn Campbell played there in those days; my buddy and I would go down to listen to his band and dance with the ugly girls that used to hang out there. It has changed a lot in the last 60 years.

Yes it has changed, not for the better... crime is rampant. There are stories on the news that are sometimes unbelievable. Some are down right funny... two guys are caught on a surveillance system.... running up on the porch and stealing one of those large ceramic flower pots! There were a bunch of similar thefts in the neighborhood. They found the guys a few days later selling the flower pots in a shopping center out of the back of a pickup. They were a father / son team....

Furrs has been long gone about 15 years. It seems like at least once a week that someone moving , stops in Albuquerque for the night at a motel, and they wake up the next morning and their U-Haul has been stolen with all their belongings..... it is just downright sad these days....

That looks like my last dog. You wouldn't think that a 75 lb dog could take up an entire queen sized motel bed. I got the twin...

I didn't make the mistake of letting my current dog on the bed, he has one of his own.

It was bad when we lived there too (1956-1960). I had a '55 Chevy, and they stole my flipper hub caps and fender skirts so many times I quit putting them back on...I did replace the radio though. They popped the trunk on my Dad's car; stole the spare, stole my little brother's bicycle off the front porch; cut the locks on my hubcaps left me with a set of flat tires...

Shoplifting was rampant there; we had an upstairs room with a one way mirror to watch. We caught college professors, housewives, grade school kids; you name it. The city was advertising even in Oklahoma papers for police recruits. There seemed to be several factions that went at it; Indians and blacks didn't get along, and there were Hispanic gangs, car clubs and "stomps" as they called the cowboys. If you were white, there were certain areas where you didn't want to get caught after sundown. That's why we rarely went to Santa Fe. Keep in mind I was just out of high school, and came from a place in Oklahoma where the biggest crimes in 10 years was a rock thrown inadvertently through a church window, and one of the locals made donuts on the baseball field one night.

My brother lived in Albuquerque and in Corrales until his death in 2011.

Sounds like it has not changed much, there is just more area for all that you mentioned to happen in. They are still trying to recruit for police officers from all over... supposedly they are ‘ short ‘ over 300 officers..... could be more like 3000.... the biggest problem is they lock up criminals and they are back on the streets the next day! The local news last night was reporting about a guy that has been arrested over 50 times over the last two years... he keeps getting released within a couple days. All petty crime, but when is he going to step up his game?

I am glad that we live way out of town.... it is too much trouble for the criminals to come out this far. Residential burglary has gone up, but not much of any other crime. I am sure all the big cities have gotten bad.
