I knew there was a thread I should have posted in rather than start another; but couldn't find it or remember the title. He deserves his own thread anyways.
As stated above though his death seemed a bit more personal to me; not only were they one of my favorite bands while coming of age but
whenever I hear one of their songs I think of my late brother Tom, who described them as "The. Best. Band. Ever."

I spent a very large portion of my teenage years sitting in my bedroom learning the bass lines to Rush songs. Those three guys were like musical mentors to me.

I was never a huge Rush fan, but thinking back, they did have some good tunes.

Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, and Limelight comes to mind

February 3rd 1959 we lost Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper in a plane crash. Such a loss. With this occurrence, the term "The Day the Music Died" was born.

That was a fitting dedication by Don McLean and I can still get choked up and nostalgic every time I hear it.
