So I believe my 2016 2400H, with only 84.1 hours, is dead because of a failed fuel shutoff solenoid...what's the cheapest way to replace it? I thought I've several here have said the factory item is expensive, but I don't recall seeing a more affordable substitute. Any suggestions? This tractor newbie really appreciates the TBN brain trust!

You want to be sure it's not the fuel relay, too, if you haven't checked any other things. And there's more possibilities for the problem.

My NH TC33DA cranks and everything works, until it didn't. I ran a jumper from the battery, key off and quiet, and the solenoid clicked.

I'd switched a few relays around already, so I leave the jumper attached, and it runs fine .. tho' it keeps running after key is off.

Upon receiving my printed-to-order manual from "Agromanuals" I look to the troubleshooting section to be reminded that:

Any safety switch can deny power to the fuel shut off solenoid when cranking. That is what we want to vet before we swap a pricey part that might be ok. Be warned that if an alternate current path is provided like I did in testing, none of the safety switches will be effective. Please don't operate under that circumstance. jon

If you can get a part number you might be able to cross reference a different one

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I think I'll just have my dealer come pick it up...if it's indeed the solenoid, it's still covered under warranty. Plus, they can address any other issues they might discover (but here's hoping they don't find anything else).

Many of the A series Branson engines use clones of the common Bosch VE injector pumps. There are web sites with a bewildering array of parts for them, like this one: Diesel spare parts, fuel supply pump, cam plate, cam disc, feed pump,Roller Assy,Cross Cube, magnet valve

The problem would be in figuring out which are the right parts.

This! It would be foolish to dig into the engine with my limited knowledge and the thing still being under warranty. Now if this happens 10 years from now (and I'm still on the same tractor), that'd be something else entirely.

Thanks again for the input, folks...I really appreciate the opinions!

Yeah, that might work, and it might not :D

Back when my Yanmar was new, it died in the field one day. Finally got it to start and make it back to the barn. Dealer sent a guy out, tractor started right up. He drove it around my place until it died a little while later and diagnosed it as a bad fuel shut off solenoid. He returned the next day, installed replacement #1.

Few days later, tractor died again. When it started after a bit, I loaded it on my trailer and hauled it to the dealer. After a few days, they called, said it's ready. I drove it around their lot, never did it die, so off I went with replacement #2. Unloading it at the house, it died. GRRRRRRRRR.

Loaded it back up when it started a few minutes later and drove it right back to the dealership. I went in and said "WHAT are the odds that the original solenoid and two replacements are bad ? Either Yanmar doesn't know how to build a solenoid and the problem OUGHT to be showing up all over the place, OR something else is wrong guys"

Turns out it was a floating bug wrapped in the plastic drill shavings where they drilled out the tank for the hose fittings floating around in the tank. At some random point, they would float OVER the tiny 1/4" hose fitting and shut the fuel off enough to kill the tractor. Enough fuel would seep by, and get to the injector pump to let it start, and maybe jiggle the bug off the outlet hole, and run until it happened again.....killing the tractor.

The mechanic finally noticed the plastic filter housing for the little screen filter under the tank suck inward as the engine died and the pump was actually pulling a vacuum, sucking the side of the housing in. He pulled the hose off the fuel tank bottom, almost no fuel. Stuck a skinny screwdriver up in the fitting, and got HOSED with fuel. Ah-HA.....something is IN THE TANK !

It happened again few years out of warranty and I used a Rigid inspection camera to look down in the tank I let empty, and a pair of grabber tongs to pull out a dirt-daubber wasp.....THAT is all it takes blocking a 1/4 hole to kill the engine dead.

Since then I came up with a fix....found a screen type filter, cut the plastic fitting off the tank, drilled the tank out some and screwed this fitting with a screen that sticks up in the tank about 1 1/2" so it will now take one heck of a blockage to ever stop fuel flow again !

You may well have a bad solenoid....but by the time you get to #3, it probably AIN'T the solenoid. :D
