But with anything these days, you have to be cautious. Is anybody using it? Have you had good experience or problems?

I use it for Apple, Nike and other discounts. It works great. You sign up once and use it as many times as you need to - in other words if you are buying something where they offer a military discount the site sends you to ID.me to authenticate you are a veteran and ID.me sends you back to the requesting site.

There is also another site that many places use besides ID.me called SheerID.

With those two every place I have had to verify discounts is covered.

That one looks more like a sales pitch/marketing gimmick and it isn't linked to USAA or VA.

You are right - the link I sent is their site that explains how companies use their service.

You don’t sign up for a SheerID account like you do for ID.me but companies use their service to verify you when you ask for a military discount.

Most of them ask you for your info offline via email or over the phone with one of their customer service reps and then they check you out via SheerID.

SiriusXM, Costco, and other use them to give you a discount.

It was just an FYI if one of those places asks you for your info to check with SheerID... so you recognize the name and function of sheerID

I think Lowes used that one and it wouldn't verify me. I had to take paperwork to a store to get it.

Right! I had that issue at Sirius XM. I gave my name as Matthew and the rep put in Matt and the SheerID rejected me...

I asked them to run it again using the exact name I gave them and it worked!

Imagine that?

I signed up with them in order to get verified with Lowes, then when I applied for a Veteran's discount on Ford vehicles, they verified my service through ID me

I wonder if that is a good idea.......wouldn't that be a bit of a risk, if someone breaks into your car?
