(2017 XR4140H, 700 hours).

Parking Brake (PB) Dash light stayed on when I started this morning. As the brakes are releasing properly at the pedals, if I was lucky, the micro switch at the lever might be hanging up. So I removed the moulded plastic cover at the PB handle at driver's left side and found a loose wire at the connector. It was a clean separation from the terminal in the connector from the microswitch to the harness -- bad crimp from OEM (Sorry... no pics). I repaired by replacing the 2-wire connector with two new insulated terminals. (Connector is keyed so it can't be miswired).

Dash light stilled stayed on with PB handle up or down. Disconnected microswitch and shorted terminals--no change. Operated brake pedals together and separately; started/stopped engine; drove tractor forward and reverse in shop. No change.

Any ideas?

Possible chewed or broken wire elsewhere in the circuit. Mice?

Went a week without seat time because of heavy rains. When I finally got to tractor, I was going to put a piece of electrical tape to block the light. Started the tractor and PBL was out. It wouldn't activate at all. A few minutes of operation and then light went intermittent on/off ( the annoying beeper would let me know when light was on). Anyway, the light stays off most of the time...even when it is suppose to be on.

With the dealer an 45 miles away, I'll check with him for any fault reset procedure next time I'm by there. For mice, I just got a new shop/barn cat last week. He's found (and whacked) two mice so far!

What's aggravating is that I have an older Ford/New Holland 1720 25hp all mechanical, non-computer tractor that I can actually work on!

With it going out and coming back on, it most likely is a broken wire.

This is an added comment to an old thread. I neglected to post the long term solution…. So here it is.
I had the tractor back to dealer in the summer for another repair (EGR valve malfunction). At the dealership for over a month and they found a couple of “ fried” pin on a connector between two harnesses (located under the driver’s left foot). The parking brake circuit was carried on one of these pins.
Not covered under warranty… so rather than disassemble tractor to replace two harnesses at (great cost to me) they cut out both ends of connector and solder spliced the harnesses. Lead mechanic said connectors are only needed when splitting tractor. Only charge was for two hours labor!
Tractor runs fine to this day….
