It looks like you god a very good deal. If the lift arm is retained by a lynch pin (a circular loop snaps in place to hold it), it is rare but possible for heavy brush to knock it loose. They are used to attach implements, and often dropped and lost in the weeds, it's always good to have a lot of them around.

Everything was in the proper position for starting. I could see the clutch switch moving freely when I pressed on it, but that doesn't mean it was making good contact. I suspect it's something along those lines. I'll figure it out, its not a big deal. I screwdriver to bridge the solenoid worked just fine to get it started so I could finish things up. I go back out there Friday and will learn more.

Yes lynch pins and a pretty nasty mess of roses was probably the culprit. I bought a dozen new ones and they seemed to do just fine.

If that was a lynch pin on the tractor end of the lift arm that got pulled out I would be tempted to get a bolt and nylock nut to replace the lynch pin unless you will be removing the arms for any reason. If it was on the implement end that is still an option kind of a pain in the neck though. Also a quick hitch would help to slow that.

Yes it was on the tractor end, if it repeats I will very likely do as you are suggesting. The new ones I bought had a really stiff closing pressure so I think they might be fine. The ones I removed weren't as stiff.

Talked to the mechanic at the dealer and he said there's 4 safety switches. Clutch, PTO, and Both HST pedals. Any one of them may be out of adjustment. So I have something to look into tomorrow when I go back out there.

As stated before the lynch pins probably worked themselves out due to the heavy brush I was working in. I like the bolt idea for attaching to the tractor, I see no need to ever remove the arms, so it's not like it would be an inconvenience or anything.

Thinking back to using the Bad Boy rotary cutter yesterday, it was having no issues at all and I was cutting through some saplings as big as 1.5 inches. Never bogged down the engine at all. Compared to the unit I rented that was 39HP this one actually did a better job. I'm not sure if that's just because the new cutter is sharp and new or because it's a 4ft vs a 5ft on the rental tractor.

I lost the hairpin style pins on both of the pins of the telescopic stabilizers in the first hour I took the tractor in the brush. I've never replaced it, as it doesn't really need the cotter pins and I would just lost it anyway. It's just the perks of working in brush.

But in your case, you might want to use some bolts instead as mentioned before.

Yeah it's all a learning experience for me right now. This is my first tractor and I've never done this type of work before. I'm surely going to make mistakes, break things, and scare myself a few times before I start to get into a groove. I'm happy with what the little thing can do so far, and that Piranha toothbar is ridiculous, it really changes how you approach brush clearing and does a great job ripping stuff out of the ground, I'm very happy that I listened to folks on here and purchased it.
