Big ferry goes from Bremerton to Seattle. Seattle& - Wikipedia I was amazed at that thing! Very safe it seems but things can happen on the water. Small ferry at Steilacoom was comparable to the Lynchburg Ferry ( Lynchburg Ferry )

I'm used to at Port Aransas ferries ( Port Aransas ) and the Galveston ferries ( GALVESTON.COM: Galveston - Port Bolivar Ferry - Galveston, TX )

Always felt safe on them but they don't go far.

>>More than 8 million passengers ride the Port Aransas and Galveston-Port Bolivar ferries annually. The two routes operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, weather permitting. >>><<< Ferry Information

Remember the scene in Double Jeopardy where Ashley Judd stole the car from Tommy Lee Jones and drove it off the ferry? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0150377/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

The ferries that cross Lake Michigan don't let you ride in your vehicle. Apparently is a USCG rule.

"Under United States Coast Guard regulations, passengers are not allowed to stay in their vehicles on the car deck while the ship is underway." - from Lake Express ferry website.

That must be local or a Great Lakes thing, because riding in cars on ferries is common. In some places they want you in your car instead of wandering around on deck.

There are some pictures n some of the news stories of 'the car' that show net barriers in place. But I still don't see how this happened, nets or no nets. Wasn't it in Park? Didn't it have brakes? Those ferries don't start or stop suddenly enough to cause a vehicle to shift.

People ride the ferry's here in their cars all the time. If I remember correctly BC ferry's don't allow it but it's been a long time since I was on one. As far as the car off the boat I would guess suicide. Cars just don't move around on them. You could move the wheel chock and drive through the net no problem.

That came to me today too. That she drove off, either accidentally or on purpose. I'm not buying simply falling off.

No it went off under power. They don't put them real close to the edge. If not intentionally done there should have been time to stop.

Sometime back I mentioned a load of metal roof panels that I planned on counterbalancing with concrete. I only got six panels this load and only used two fifty pound bags that are under the front tie down. Trailer is 8' and the panels are 13'6" There are also a few 2 x 4 x 8s under the metal.

Might not be my best load ever, but it made it home safely.

agree, they drove off intentionally.

The article which I read indicates they may have forgotten to put it in park, and the river accidently stepped on the gas. That's a common cause of accidents, especially with older people.

Report said they were found in the back seat holding each other. Hmmmmmm?
