And in the winter, used to hear "It's colder'n a well digger's hip pockets" or "It's colder'n a well digger's butt". But since you don't hear of anyone digging a well with a shovel anymore, I haven't heard that in a long time.

I've often wondered why they don't use an auger and plant 'em straight up and down to save space and increase the longevity of the graveyard? I'm going to make an ash out of myself 'cause I'm tired of being cold.

This I can tell you in one word, tradition.
Also, that way they can sell more plots. Cemetery near us has a limit of 6 urns or 2 coffins in a plot even though you could probably fit a whole lot more in there.

Hey, I actually have one!

There was a city in northern Ontario that celebrated spring by issuing wooden nickels and mandated that only lumberjack shirts be worn during that week.

Kind of an alternate to groundhog day.
