I bought a SawHaul last fall for my Kioti, haven't used it much yet. I run a 24" Tsumura bar on my Husky 572XP, and the SawHaul scabbard is only 20" long. I though about cutting the bottom out of the scabbard as others have done, but now I'm thinking I should just leave it be, and let the saw stick up 4" out of the scabbard, so my dogs don't destroy it. Hadn't thought about it until you posted this..........

No...better cut it out. IF the flange is as thin as mine, the weight of the saw will simply push the scabbard out of the holder in a short while or punch the bottom of the scabbard out. No way it's designed to hold that saw up 4". Just light weight plastic.

Well that's probably true, I'd better mod it one of these days then.

This story is why I built my "saw haul" out of 3/4" plywood to begin with. Been hauling a Stihl 021 around on the fender of the Farmall C for probably 10 years and haven't had any issues with it. The bucking spikes have chewed up the top of it a little bit but she still works fine. If it ever fails I'll simply built another out of plywood. Have to admit that mine is not nearly as sexy as the storebought kind.

If your saw is cutting crooked there is probably a burr on your bar. Take the bar off and remove the chain. Feel the flat outside edge of the bar to see if there is a burr. If there is clamp the bar in the vice and remove the burr with a file. All you want to accomplish is a clean square edge. Check the entire cutting edge on both sides of the bar and make sure it is completely free of any burr. This should fix the problem.

Your saw swings on a chain in your bucket? Guess I need a pic?
