The lumber places around here just staple some red plastic onto the back of the wood. I never have needed to go far with wood like that and it seems to stay. I tie a red rag on for any long trips.

I may never understand why people post a picture of a truck or trailer being way overloaded in a for sale add. I was looking at buying a 14k trailer and the guy was bragging about hauling a 310 backhoe on it which wasn稚 as bad as that car hauler but still probably 50 percent over loaded.

I agree. We sell trailers, so we also take some used ones in trade. Some are pristine, rarely used etc. But many will have a twist in the frame or a bend, or bent axles. Most older trailers need brake work and lights, maybe a deck. I think buying used is an awesome idea, but a buyer can quickly spend more than new if he replaces axles, tires, lights, wiring...and still has a bent frame. My long winded way of saying to be careful when buying a used trailer and if the guy brags up hauling his dozer on it...walk away.

how about 3 cords of red oak (not dried) on a 16' 14k gooseneck dump? And the owner said, "with the plywood sides, that doesnt even fill it all the way up"

What is that about 15,000lb of oak, plus the trailer at nearly 5,000lb? Great example. We get customers occasionally that say their dump trailer won't dump a load. We try to convince them to bring us the trailer loaded if they are local. We take it to a nearby scale and they are generally way overloaded. It is so easy to do....done it myself more than once.

You were safe as long as you were on his left side.
